I own the version with slots released after the OG Silver and in comparison Silver version II is better. The music flows better and sounds more natural. If Black II does similar things that's good news. Besides the good news that it's now made in Scotland instead of China.

By the way I also hear differences between C1 B and C2 A, although it's said to be the exact same file. C2 A is livelier with more confidence in the playing of the guitar. It also has longer decay and sounds more tuneful.
Stranger things have happened, just not sure where or when.

Sorry, missed a couple of posts of my phone.

They are original Linn blacks, not the new Scottish made ones.

It’s been a while since I posted an update on my loudspeaker project, so here’s a couple of vid’s. The first one’s quite long, but it’s really worth waiting for Buddy Rich’s solo at about 4 mins!

As before, this is just one channel, the enclosure is still taped together and the drive units are still secured with just a couple of screws!

PS, it was very loud in the room, with the Boazu almost maxing out! I left it at this level to show the amazing dynamic range the Boazu is capable of.

Sounding good, Spannko! It's certainly coming along. Are the recordings just one channel of the music or did you blend them to mono? I ask because the vibes sound a little quiet in the Buddy Rich track, although I'm not that familiar with that piece. But the Booker T and the M.G.'s "Green Onions" sounds normal to me.

You’re right Thomas. You’re hearing just one channel of stereo recordings, so all that can be heard of the other channel is what bleeds through in the studio. Sometimes this isn’t too noticeable, and at other times it sounds as though something is obviously missing.

Since you are using a Boazu why don't you just plug the left and right channels of the source into the same channel of the Boazu? Then it will mix it to mono!

Thank you Spannko for bringing this up again. I went through my little setup and found a worthwhile improvement. Not directly related to your topic but inspired by it! :-)

Edit: I have just tried your suggestion and increased the distance between my cd and amp power cords. It works in my setup! :-)

Hi beck - you meant the distance of the physical cords on the floor or the distance from each other in the power distribution block.

I experimented with my power distribution block (Claas Olsen) which had only 6 sockets so I am short of some for the 2JBL´s and daisy chained another Claas Olsen power distribution block like that:

[SM] [Empty] [SM] [Empty] [Akurate DS] [2nd Claas Olsen distribution block] === [JBL 308] [Empty] [JBL 308]

However I am not sure/convinced it is more musical now compared to before. That might be because the second Claas Olsen was not realy used before and also has a cord which is against text.

Btw I bought another Claas Olsen when I was last year in Norway and chose one with text but the block has changed and the cord has changed too so musicality might not be the same anymore.

I prefer Silver as well.
It's kind of funny how after some tweaks to the system Silver now wins.

I still like them both for different reasons. What I end up using permanently in my system time will tell. :-)

I am not surprised that I now enjoy my Silvers. I am always open to the possibility that things can change when setup changes……..
