Just tried the new q4 evo shelves, they give a worthwhile improvement over the originals.

Re: Quadraspire
The new Quadraspire audio rack has received positive print in various reviews. I've always liked their products, good value :!:anthony wrote:Just tried the new q4 evo shelves, they give a worthwhile improvement over the originals.

After initially assembling my Quadraspire audio rack, I did check the tightness a few times within the first month. However, the other day I checked the tightness again and discovered it was very loose. Not sure how it became so loose, but once I tightened the posts as much as possible - the sound really improved :!:
Has anybody experienced this situation with their audio racks :?:

I understand that with Isoblue racks, part of the design is that they should not be too tight. They just push together with pegs, and gravity does the rest.
I was told that some people have fallen to the temptation to stick them together with wood glue, but they do not sound so good afterwards.
I will leave mine alone. Any comments on this?
Thanks
Don

Lejonklou, what causes the audio racks to need tighten up after awhile :?: Would normal vibrations through the floor cause this to happen :?:lejonklou wrote:Yes, it's the same with Harmonihyllan. It needs retightening after a while.Tony Tune-age wrote:Has anybody experienced this situation with their audio racks :?:
Fortunately it's easy to do and you're rewarded with an improvement.

Lejonklou, I recently checked the tightness again, and it's still okay. Will the wood become more compressed over time, or will there a limit to compression :?:lejonklou wrote:The wood gets compressed with time. And it takes very little compression for the fastener (or column) to get loose.

After nearly two months, I checked my Quadraspire rack for tightness again. Apparently it's completely compressed now, because there was absolutely no movement this time :!: Thanks for the guidance Lejonklou 8) . Perhaps the Mimer rack will hit the United States soon, and I can look into upgrading my audio rack.lejonklou wrote:Yes, there's a limit. After enough compression, it won't compress any more. At least on furniture of this type, that isn't "physically abused".

After having my Sondek worked on by ThomasOK, I changed the shelf location of my Radikal on the Quadraspire rack. I moved the Radikal from the third shelf to the top shelf, and it does sound much better now.
However, the Quadraspire will eventually be sold to make room for a Harmonihyllan audio rack... 8)

ThomasOK is authorized to distribute the Harmonihyllan racks within the United States. And he has been evaluating the three types of Harmonihyllan shelving options.Charlie1 wrote:Very nice! Have you heard it yet? Looking forward to reading what you think. On my side, I will have to decide exactly how many shelves are needed for my audio system. Also, after more information is available, I'll have a much better idea of which shelving option(s) to choose.
Yes...Akurate Radikal 8)

I'll be listening to the Harmonihyllan rack later this month, when the Urika is installed on my Sondek, and perhaps the Dynamik power supply for my Radikal if it's available by then.Linnism wrote:Hi,Tony Tune-age wrote:However, the Quadraspire will eventually be sold to make room for a Harmonihyllan audio rack... 8)
Did you go ahead with the change?
Seems like there is always a change that takes priority over my original plans
