Before we go to the results ,let's talk about the band.

Wilton Felder,although a saxophonist he also played bass from time to time,as he does on this track and album.

And compare that to Cookin's

Kairn - Lingo - Linto

In other words, pre amp first versus source first in the strip. (Those are in my opinion the only two choices worth comparing).

What I find really remarkable is how big the differences are and how easy it is to hear them on clips recorded with a phone.

Clips of two different loudspeakers:
'Hmmm, well, I'm not entirely sure but I think I prefer one of them. How do you rate them when listening in the room?'

Clips of two power cords swapping positions in the strip:
'That was easy. One is great and the other terrible!'

Oh, yeah. Radikal, phono stage is definitely the order after the preamp.

Both drive aren’t new, they are well and truly worn in! What do you think of them as is? Particularly the differences between the two units when reproducing different bandwidths. I find the differences interesting, but I’m not too sure what can be made of them tbh.

The first sounds like it's drunk after a large intake of neat absinthe. The second sounds mildly drunk. Are you sure your "laboratory" set up is giving the woofers a chance Spannko?

200mm would have to have some crossover help and some careful cabinet loading to help speed that driver up subjectively. What happens if you run two 120mm's in its place?
