Single or Bi-Wire on 242 with Klimax Twin

A friend bought a Klimax Twin with Neutrik sockets. He had two 2250s with K400s on his 242. He now wants a solo K200 cable with Neutrik connectors, i.e. single-wire. With the old Linn loudspeakers we had bi- / tri-wire K400 / 600, which was much better than single-wire.
Wouldn't it make sense to use bi-wire cables, one K200 to the 3K unit, the other for MID / BASS or just BASS?

No, because multi wiring is musically worse than single wiring. Many of us were fooled into thinking it was better, while in reality it sounds "more" because it's more confused.

I urge everyone who believes in passive multi wiring to do this comparison again, carefully and without prejudice.

I agree with single wiring sounding best. In the past I tried multi cabling and bi-amping.

In the end, returned to single amping and single cables for optimum music (Solos, split K400 and 242)
The multi cabling/amping gave the impression of more control but lost out on the music. Just my findings although I know others are fans.

My experience relates to the old LINN devices. Lk 100, Klout, Keilidh, Kaber etc. have two pairs of Kaber here and various K400 / 600 cables. I don't want single wire with Karin / Lk100, nor MAJIK DSM / 3 or Sneaky DS on kaber.
I'm also not sure if the K200 is good for the Klimax Twin on 242. It sounds more like the sound of the new LINN amps.

The best speaker crossovers like the Klangedang series crossovers do allow only single wiring/single amping.
I completely agree with Fredrik Lejonklou that single wiring/amping is musically the best way to connect amp and speakers.

You've hit the nail on the head there, the K400 (split or not) is still the best speaker cable. I also preferred it to the K200, when comparing them on 242's Mk. II.

I might as well weigh in here too. I was also one who went with the multi-amp, multi-wiring setups in the past. I no longer would. Through my own listening tests I have found:

A) Single wiring and single amping are musically preferable to multi-wiring and multi-amping, except in the case of full active using the best power amps available.

B) K400 is more musical and natural sounding than K200. These were cut to the same exact length, soldered with Lejonklou solder at 677°F and using my preferred Linn Knekt bananas. K400 split in half is the way to go for single wire.

By the way, when single wiring 242s it is musically best to connect to the tweeter terminals on the speaker. This is true with all Linn speakers with 2K and 3K arrays I have tried it on.

To tweeters. I originally thought that it would be super-tweeters, but Fredrik tested it and found to tweeters were better. I tried it and agreed.

Current configuration is positive to super tweet, negative to lowest bass.

Some engineer who didn't listen decided that was a good idea. It makes a theoretical sense in that all drive units get an equal amount of "link plates" in its signal path.

The most musical connection is however to treble + and -.

Probably. The positive on super tweet and negative on lowest bass is that recommend by Linn.

we tried K400 in single and bi-wire on 242. We found bi-wire to be better in everything than the single wire cable. K400 with new Speakon plugs on Chakra twin and kneckt plugs. one cable to 3K, the other to upper bass / bass.
