Best technique for splitting K400 speaker cable??

Post by Clownmaster »

Hi

I have a 4m length of K400 speaker cable that I want to use to create 2 single speaker cable sets- one 2.48m long and the other 1.4m long.

The sheath looks extremely tough and I don’t want to butcher it!

Anyone got any tips on how to do this or are there any dealers / experts that could do this on my behalf ? I’m based in the UK btw but happy to ship.

Many thanks

I don't recommend making a pair 1.4 m long, as it sounds quite bad. The only good use is between amp and a stand alone passive filter, like the one for Klångedang T1, in which case the cable should be as short as practically possible.

Best is to use a carpet cutter knife for stripping the jacket. Just take it very slowly and carefully.

You could look at anvil secateurs / pruners. I used a pair of straight anvil pruners to split ~3mtrs of K400... There are a few curved ones on B&Q and Amazon, but I think straight would be better.
