Could someone please tell me the safest and most efficient way to rip, or split K400?
Thank you as always

I split it by holding a sharp carpet knife in one hand and with the other hand I slowly pull the cable towards me.
I do it twice to remove the central piece, but that's not really necessary. It looks better, but you need to be more careful not to cut into the cable. And you also need to mark the direction before cutting, because all the markings disappear.

I’ve used a guillotine vinyl tile cutter to good effect.
Not the neatest finish but very safe and quick.

I do it basically the same way as Fredrik using a utility knife that uses replaceable razor blades. I have found that warming the K400 up with a heat gun first makes it easier to cut. Also I sometimes dig the tip of the knife into the wooden board I cut them on to help hold it in place while I pull the K400. And if you are cutting out the center part do definitely mark direction first.

I used anvil pruners (available from Home Depot) Slow & steady to split the K400, all fingers safe, and useful for Spring-time yard-work once you're done ... in between listening sessions, of course :)

BTW, this is also the neatest way to cut the K400/K600 across to the right lenght.tokenbrit wrote:I used anvil pruners (available from Home Depot) Slow & steady to split the K400, all fingers safe, and useful for Spring-time yard-work once you're done ... in between listening sessions, of course :)
Re: Best way to rip K400?
I borrowed Steven's guillotine vinyl tile cutter (see Post #3 above) - I ripped about 8 metres of K400 and retained all 10 fingers!

Thank you all for your suggestions gentlemen! I think I’ll use a blow dryer to make the cables more pliable then go the route of the anvil pruner. I too have a bit of a green thumb so it will serve both needs. I’ll report results once I have time to do so

How did you get on? I took the simply route and bought the K400 already cut by the former owner (very tidy job he must have put it through a pasta maker or something like that haha)
Re: Best way to rip K400?
I just bought a stronger utility blade and it cut through the K400 with ease
