I am genuinely interested in the Akula sub chassi. Has anyone here heard it? Whats the impressions? I have read a few very positive feedbacks from Aro users on other forums, but I'm interested in Ittok/Ekos experience.
Is there any way to get a demo in Sweden?

welcome to the forum.
I have not listened to it yet, but I have seen it in the flesh and I like it. IMO, it is a clever design. Like the Keel it preserves the mechanic integrity between platter bearing and tonearm bearing. I have read nearly all comments about it on several forums and I have got the impression that some dealers depreciate it because it is much cheaper than a Tangerine Plateau or a Linn Keel. I would definitely put it on my short list for a new sub chassis.

Re: TigerPaw Akula - how does it sound?
Thank you Matthias.
Nice to hear that you also find the Akula promising. Let me know if you get the chance to hear it, would be nice to hear your impressions. I would very much like to have a demo myself between Akula/Kore/Keel, in Sweden. I'm also interested in hearing reviews/experiences from those who have used the Akula with Ittok or Ekos. Almost every comment I've read is from Aro-users.
It is not easy to get a neutral view on components like the Akula, unfortunately since there's quite an investment to pay for a sub chassi. Even if I have the deapest respect for Linn LP12 as a true high end system, modular in a way to keep it up to date and to last a lifetime. But the compact resistance to third part products from dealers is something I have a hard time to understand. Fore me, and for many other LP12 owners, the desirable Keel is out of my reach economically. From my perspective it would be beneficial for both customers and dealers to make serious and well developed third part products more available. If Linn components are superior, the customers will discover, for example in a demo. If products like Akula is really good it just becomes a complement to the Linn product line, it should be a plus for both parts, since it would make the LP12 an even more modular, long lasting and versatile system.
Hope to get the chance to hear it in a comparison to Kore before I will make up my mind.

Here is a review of the Akula from a guy (Martin Rose) with an Ekos:

I would start a thread about Akula and Ittok/Ekos here:
