Hello
This is my first post here on this forum! However, I have followed the discussions for a while as a guest with interest.
I have owned a LP12 since the beginning of the 90th when I bought it second hand. I think it is from 85 or 86. The reason for this post is that would like to have some suggestions about the top plate in connection to plinth change. The current player have Cirkus, Radikal and Ekos2. I´ve got the radikal just days ago.
I´ve orded a Chris Harban plinth (Wenge) and thought that it might be good idea to change the top plate either to a new steel or perhaps to the Kahn. It would be interesting to here your opinion about the old steel top plate vs the new. Is it worth while doing? I thinking also of changing the outer plate.
Best regards

LP12 upgrade of top plate

If you have read my posts here and on the Linn forum you will already know that I do not consider the Khan to be a musical upgrade over the Linn SS top plate. The newer Linn SS top plate with the additional stud welded in the corner near the motor is a worthwhile upgrade if you don't have it. It does not make a big improvement but it does make the LP12 a bit more musical, especially if the stud is torqued precisely. It is relatively inexpensive as Linn upgrades go and makes sense to have it done at the time you get the Harban plinth (which is quite an improvement musically).
