I torqued the Jern 12ws today and it resulted in all over better musicality and powerful, full music. I went back to 1.3 and it is really better now than 1.1. The torque made the sound fuller and less lean. Overall more musical! Källa-Boazu-Jern 12 ws my best ever system. Music just flows.

Fred

I'm using Boazu with Linn Espeks. I haven't performed comparisons with other speakers, but it is great fun with the Espeks
I'm using Boazu with Linn Ninkas. Music sounds great. (And Ninkas are cheap these days).

Remember: Even if it prioritize sound quality before power it can still play louder than most amps before distorting.
Myself I'm using a Boazu + Totem Dreamcatcher combo and can't be happier. It's lots of fun and got drive even at very low volumes.

Won't it be easier to make a list of the few speakers that don't work well with the Boazu? ;)

Surprised not more people use M109s since that's what Fredrik used for a while.

I mentioned yesterday in another thread that we would be starting out the year with a really fine Boazu review. I didn’t realize we would be actually starting out the year with it but we did as it posted today!

A great review, and I learnt that I've been listening to my Boazu with inverted phase since I got it, now corrected.

I'm not sure I can hear a difference that matters ...

I saw that about inverted phase and wondered whether it was correct? I don’t recall hearing anything about that before.

I could not find any reference to phase in the set up instructions, but it is mentioned here: https://www.lejonklou.com/tips/how-to-c ... -to-boazu/

If using passive speakers, like your Espeks, Pete, black on Boazu should go to black on the speakers. And red on Boazu should go to red on the speakers.

In other words, don’t invert anything.

Ah! So it was right first time ... I will revert to non-inverted. Thanks!

Would adding something like this (as pictured) be good enough to connect a relt7i to a Boazu? Of course keeping mind that the speaker connections for the sub have to be inverted for phase.

Those would absolutely work. How they sound I don’t know.

I’ve been trying to figure out if there’s a more optimal way to do the physical connection, one that doesn’t in any way degrade the signal to the loudspeakers. But I don’t yet have such a solution.

have 2 sets of speaker outs per channel maybe. would that be a possibility?

I might have to send the splitters back as I realized that the two cables (speaker and subwoofer may touch resulting in a short due to the red and black cables being so close.

Maybe I should look at other options. Can’t afford to blow the amp.

Maybe the attached photo is a safer option

The ghost of a possibility of another Boazu version got me thinking: what would be in my wishlist for V2??

Well I love the following about Boazu:

1. The music
2. No source selection
3. The colour coded volume
4. The mute behaviour and remote control features

... in that order.

What do I think is missing:
1. Fredrik makes amplifiers that make even more music
2. Nothing else

So my wishlist is:
1. More music
2. No other changes (although I only use 3 sources so would happily ditch one of the source inputs)

Of course this is entirely subjective and speculative, but - just in case ....

Thank you Pete!

Boazu 2 is in the works. This time it will be made entirely in Sweden, which has required a lot of details to be redesigned.

A while back I tested adding some extra features, just like I did when the original was designed. But this time I thought I’d do it smarter, so that there would be no negative effect on the musicality. For instance it would be nice to have a way to connect a Giella headphone amp. Or even add a really good headphone output.

Unfortunately I came to the same conclusion as last time: Boazu sounds best with zero features. I just didn’t get the same thrill when any of the extra features were in place.

So it currently looks like your wishlist will be fulfilled, Pete. One thing I’ve been wanting to ask current owners, though, is whether they wish to keep the “child safety” that stops the volume at 78 (could be changed to 80 to better suit Källa) unless you deactivate it. I’ve spoken to several owners who didn’t know about it and always thought that 78 was max, while in reality it can go to 100 with a press of two buttons. So my instinct is that it should probably be removed.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
