Everything matters in large amounts ;)

I'm impressed by the impact of some apparently small changes. The brass washers blow my mind.

Ah yes I wondered about that. I'm not sure how to achieve that, at least without irreversible changes.

As for the TV .... I think I'd face a family insurrection if I tried that!

Room Treatment

Has anyone experimented with room treatments to improve their system? At the weekend I serendipitously found myself with spare rockwool insulation and two 75cm x 100cm unwanted picture canvases. It took about 5 minutes to stuff the frames with 5cm thick rockwool and place them behind the speakers to...

Yes please, it's a really useful resource and can be hard to find even if you know it's somewhere in the forum.

Re: Vinyl Revival

My youngest has picked up 35mm photography. I used to have my own darkroom, but stopped using it in the 1990s after printing the colour slides from my honeymoon. The paper I printed on is gorgeous, and has an almost iridescent quality. The prints show no signs of degradation, and still look beautifu...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks again everyone for listening and commenting. Next time I do recordings I'll pay close attention to the location of the microphones on the phone. In the room I prefer Brasso too. That such small changes as reversing the washers makes an audible difference implies to me that my Espeks as a syst...

Vinyl Revival

I just came out of a tiny record shop in Stroud Gloucestershire that was packed with 20-somethings buying vinyl from the 70s and 80s. The last time I experienced this, I was one of the 20-somethings, and it was the 80s. Plus I bought 3 albums for a total of £15. It's like I'd time travelled back nea...

I wasn't patient enough to wait, so I've done some more tests.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

The base and its 3 sets of washers (between the limestone and cabinet, underneath the bolt heads, between the spike lock nuts and the limestone) along with the spikes themselves seem to be quite influential on the sound. I've finally got a set up that I can reliably dismantle and reassemble without ...

I haven't tried that since I first fitted the bases a few years ago. I'll check it before I test the bronze washers.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks for the kind comments. I'm delighted with how it sounds, and how engaging it is. I'm quite visual, and I take a lot of photographs, so to me the 'brass' seemed to snap the music into crisp focus. Before it had been a little blurry, but I was only aware of this after the change. The change I m...

Happy new year too!

Owning Lejonklou devices is more like owning artisanal musical instruments than consumer electronics, and the knowledge of the care and precision that goes in to making each one adds to the enjoyment that the music brings.
