Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

The base and its 3 sets of washers (between the limestone and cabinet, underneath the bolt heads, between the spike lock nuts and the limestone) along with the spikes themselves seem to be quite influential on the sound. I've finally got a set up that I can reliably dismantle and reassemble without ...

I find these tricky. I’m happy to listen to A or B, but if pushed for a preference would choose A.

I haven't tried that since I first fitted the bases a few years ago. I'll check it before I test the bronze washers.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks for the kind comments. I'm delighted with how it sounds, and how engaging it is. I'm quite visual, and I take a lot of photographs, so to me the 'brass' seemed to snap the music into crisp focus. Before it had been a little blurry, but I was only aware of this after the change. The change I m...

Re: Linn Factory Tour

I've seen a couple of these factory tour videos and I find them interesting (I find manufacturing factories and their solutions to the different challenges fascinating anyway - my favourite factory tour was of AEI cables near Chester-Le-Street). The Linn team come across as very proud of their histo...

In other words, don’t invert anything.
Ah! So it was right first time ... I will revert to non-inverted. Thanks!

I could not find any reference to phase in the set up instructions, but it is mentioned here: https://www.lejonklou.com/tips/how-to-c ... -to-boazu/

A great review, and I learnt that I've been listening to my Boazu with inverted phase since I got it, now corrected.

I'm not sure I can hear a difference that matters ...

Happy new year too!

Owning Lejonklou devices is more like owning artisanal musical instruments than consumer electronics, and the knowledge of the care and precision that goes in to making each one adds to the enjoyment that the music brings.

Re: Opinion wanted | Replacing a Kairn for center channel and sub or just improved stereo

I went through a similar thought process, and added a surround processor to my stereo for a centre channel and rear surrounds. However I had a limited budget and could not buy the additional processor, amps and speakers without compromising the quality of my main stereo audio. For the centre I used ...

Re: Which rack shelf?

I tried a couple of combinations, but have now settled on: Axis Källa Kinki Boazu Amplifi+Netgear I removed the spare shelf, and this alone seemed to bring a small improvement. This makes me wonder if moving the Axis on to a separate stand and removing another shelf will bring a further improvement....

I did that test today with Glen Campbell Wichita Line...

Re: Pete's System

He he! I was prompted to browse through Beck's CD player journey because my son asked if he could play CDs through the system. He loves vinyl and music on physical media and has started buying very cheap CDs. I thought: maybe I can pick up a cheap Arcam CD player and Beckify it. Hence the rather fli...

Re: Pete's System

I came across a suggestion on Beck's thread to try placing cables on a sheepskin rug. Happily my wife has a sheepskin rug which I borrowed to support the power cables. Unhappily, my wife was quick to spot the theft and is unimpressed. Even worse, to my ears it makes an improvement and now I don't wa...

I have listened to them a few times.

While I can hear a little of what people describe as out of tune in B, I prefer B. I listen to my response to the music. I am more engaged with B than A.

Re: Pete's System

This hobby is so funny. I remembered some old posts on the forum about checking fuse orientation, so decided to test the orientation of the fuse in the power strip for Kalla and Boazu. To save time I decided not to reattach the top of the plug, leaving the fuse exposed as it is plugged into the sock...
