Why music is important to us

Post by beck » 2019-08-10 10:06

In these sad Brexit times I cannot thank Great Britain enough for all the good things they have given to humanity in the field of the arts.
The Goon Show (https://youtu.be/SmuS3SGgRsw), Monty Python, Beatles.........the list is endless

Stephen Fry is a favorite of mine here at 24.15 to 26.00 explaining why music and the arts are so important to us humans.

Don’t forget ‘Dad’s Army’ beck. It’s an absolute classic.

“Don’t tell him your name, Pike”.

Priceless. :-)

We're watching Outnumbered from the beginning. Anyone with kids should see the funny side. All episodes on Netflix - at least they are in the UK. It's not up there with the best shows but still enjoyable.

To me personally the human contact through shared emotional experience is the aspect of listening to music that I put above all else.

If I cannot “feel” it when listening I have failed my task.

Not much to do with flat frequency response and so on.......

And yet the best thing to do with an equalizer (in the replay system) other than to remove or bypass it, is to set it 'flat'* ;) Or, as a local coffeehouse says: "filter coffee, not people" ... or music :)

* not meant against the SOers :D
