Re: Playlist
These guys seem to be able to infuse everything they do with a sense of fun. They can still pull it off despite being past the first flush of youth..

Pink Floyd The Wall
I remember the first time I heard this. A school friend played it to me on his Dad's record player. It was the first non Beatles album I listened to and I was enthralled. However I don't think I've played it for over a decade and listening to it now, it sounds so different to my recall: even better than I remember. Still not a fan of "the trial" though. A bit too "phantom of the opera" for my liking and jars with the tone of the rest of the album.
The Notting Hill Billies missing ... presumed having a good time
This mysteriously turned up on my front door mat about half an hour ago. Turns out my wife heard a track on Radio Paradise and figured I'd like it. Mellow. Seems these guys really can play guitar...

Re: Playlist
Each one of these Joan Armatrading records came from charity shops, collected over about 30 years. Tonight I'm playing the ones I haven't heard for years. I'm getting so much more out of them than I used to. A few I played once and then dismissed as only interesting for the singles, but this evening I haven't heard a single track I don't enjoy.

Re: Playlist
AH, yes. A lot of good music there. You should lend the first one to charlie1 if he doesn't have it. "Me, Myself, I" is one of the ultimate KAN demo tracks. Always blew peoples minds at Hi-Fi shows when the bass comes in running through an LP12 a NAIT and KANs properly set up.

Noted :)
Only got a couple of hers and not that one.
I think it was you once said that one or two albums is somtimes enough from a particular artist.
However, I'm intruiged and doubt it will cost much to get one more ;)

Me Myself I is good, though my favourite is Show Some Emotion.
Walk Under Ladders has an all star supporting cast with contributions from King Crimson, XTC, Sly & Robbie, TRB amongst others.
Joan has also been photographed by some amazing photographers for her album covers: Robert Mapplethorpe, Annie Leibowitz, Graham Hughes (think Roxy Music).

Re: Playlist
Hi springwood64. I wasn't commenting on which was the best album, just on the track that makes NAIT/KANs rock. I wouldn't want to be without any of the three you mention above as they are all quite good. I don't know if I could pick just one. Another favorite track is "Opportunity" which is off your favorite "Show Some Emotion" just a fun song and the bass voice is killer. In fact I'm listening to it right now:springwood64 wrote: ↑2021-02-06 10:39 Me Myself I is good, though my favourite is Show Some Emotion.
