I am still giving it more run in - the issue is as I said in hifi terms it shines with more clarity and with a more relaxed sound and more details I can follow some melodies easier but I am missing something which I hear with the Option 1 recordings from earlier which is rhythm ... or the funkiness.
I will give you some recordings comparing to Option 1 - same song with Sade.

I think Linto makes more sense of the music.

I agree, it's especially noticeable in the guitar melody at the beginning of the first song.

Again DIY for me.
Linto is more open, transparent, more HiFi, mechanical ...
DIY have more emotions, especially in voice = song sound with more emotions ...
P.S. Sade - By Your Side is also good for Tune Method.

hi Vlado thank you very much for your opinion - this is really a hard one - I see what you mean and agree to some extend.
One thing is for sure - its a great achievement as DIY. Actually this comparison mirrors the discussion I have with the friend - he is missing clarity, details and transparency when he comes over to me. I am missing emotions when I go over to him. If it would be about checking boxes and count who has more checked boxes he is the winner. But it is not a race and not a competition and I want to be moved through the music which I am more with the Linto.
Not sure if the following comparison is o.k. for this forum - if his system would be a woman it would be one which is dressed always very smart - everything fits together, every color fits.
I like woman with Jeans. Not so sleek but in for a surprise.
I know its stereotyping.
I know what you say when you mean it fits to my system as it is tighten things up especially in the lower region.
Thats the difficulty when clarity and details give you more insights but you dont realize that is with a tradeoff.

Hi Defender, I agree with you.
This discussions are good, sorry not good, they are excellent, at lest to avoid as much as possible traps. Remind me on discussions for Linn Valhalla vs Radikal, Linn Silver Old vs New, LP 33.3 vs 45 and so on ... different opinions are OK, but with explanations, why it's like this or like that ...
Other thing is ... for this type of evaluation, the best will be, to be in the room ... Your position is most valid, my not, because of laptop & headphones ... they can change a lot of thing ... OK, it's Tune Method but for such a fine ...

Its really good to have input from all of you as everyone gives a different perspective independent from the preference. It didn't make me want to try this LP and than the next and than another.

This is what I hear as well. If I try to track what each individual instrument is doing, it's easier on the DIY preamp. If I try to track what all the instruments are doing simultaneously, the Linto does a better job.

I'm discovering that if my mind shifts easily from the whole to a part, or individual instrument, it's often a hi-fi trap. If I can stay focused on the entire song without having to work at it, that's usually the better choice.

At the moment I am playing cd’s on a cheap cd player and really enjoying myself. When you hit the “music mark” regardless of how low or high the sound fidelity is you really do not need to upgrade anything other than your listening habits....... :-)

Yes I think so as well, another one already on order but, under the circumstances, seems to be delayed.

I think maybe the 160 has dipped off in the second recording. So many variables, including the old iphone which is now being used by my daughter to communicate with friends - I sometimes forget to disable the wifi for example. I think unless I record at the same time then too many things can change. I'm happy with the 32.5/160 though - music is accessible straight away - I sense some barrier with the snaps/250, by comparison of course as I still like it.

Couldn't resist trying the Valhalla LP12 again. The bolt down 12/160 were often too ragged with Briks and Valhalla LP12. This is better but we'll see.

which one do you prefer?

I prefer the new room over the old one which sounds a bit sluggish to me. I also prefer before to after. While the bass seems a bit weak on before I find everything easier to follow. I think after takes the bass too far and detracts from the musical flow. Just my thoughts on a quick listen. I think there is room for more adjustment to get it better.

I find the Linto more musical and easier to follow. I don't really notice much difference in volume levels.

Agreed! This sounded pretty good. I briefly tried listening to the first two clips with the Rega but after five seconds each of being shouted at gave it up. I can tell you from past experience that putting a Rega Planar 2 or 3 in front of quality Naim electronics and Isobariks is a recipe for fatigue. The flaws of the turntable are pretty much all that is noticeable.
