It is easy to hear the difference and that is what counts! :-)

Both A and B are to my mind enjoyable music but B has clearly more sofisticated sound and insight into the recordings.

On A2/3 sounds like acoustics is changed and sounds like "empty" room ...

Do you mean it changes between A2 and A3? I just checked the time stamps and all "A" clips are recorded within a 12 minute time span. The kids were asleep and the wife not home. I only moved between the sofa and the turntable so there shouldn't be any difference in acoustics between A2 and A3.

But, as it might be possible to see from the reflection in the window, the room is quite large behind the listening position so there can indeed be smaller changes there, such as more or less stuff lying around, between the A and B clips.

Sorry not to be precise ... A2/3 comparing to B2/3 ...

I preferred A. It seemed to make more sense of everything and bring the music together nicely as a whole. B seemed rhythmically jerky and a bit hurried at times (i.e. B1)

I think I know what Vlado means about the balance. It seems a bit thin / light to me, but then it's often hard to know for sure via clips. I guess it's also difficult with so much glass behind the speakers.

This is a good point. Just to be absolutely clear - my Gaio was upgraded from 2 to 2.4 and has had many hours of use as a version 2. I’m not sure how many new components have been added or indeed to what degree these require further burn in.

Fredrik said he is not affected with run in when he evaluates his products with tune dem so we also should not be if we use tune dem.

I'm down with this. B clips are easily better even though A clips are good. So I'm guessing this is what I have to look forward to with Gaio 2.4. Either that or we all like 2.0 and I won't have to upgrade my stock! :-)

Now the most interesting part. B is Gaio 2 and A is 2.4.

Have I botched the setup? The recording conditions? Something else?

Due to the nature of this comparison I obviously can’t cross check with other recordings...

Edit: I should add that I’m very happy with 2.4 in the room. It certainly didn’t feel like a downgrade when I plugged it in. However the overwhelming majority for B does blur the picture somewhat...

I haven’t checked the phase no (I know... but there are so many things to do). But I’m certain everything is plugged in the same way in both sets of clips so if the phase is wrong it’s consistently wrong.

The felt mat does stick to the records sometimes so can end up with the other side up.

I do not think there is any need for concern. Let the 2.4 have some more hours and then make another clip.
If in doubt ask Lejonklou directly with a pm. He can listen in and comment.

Listening again I do hear what Charlie1 and Vlado are talking about....

No, some have botched the listening.

I had trouble deciding when listening on my phone. But I am a Moscato guy. So I broke out some Red and relistened over my hi-fi. It is important on playback to compensate with an appropriately filled bottle and glass of wine. It took several listenings to get right. I usually don't shop for fruit, but that helped as well. Here in Detroit, we have a definition of fruit; stuff bought on a Saturday and thrown out by Friday.

I am excited to listen to a new Slipsik in my own system. With a real manly drink called beer.

I relistened/watched again to try and see Oscar. On my phone, I could see a line and a huge room ahead. Turns out it is a reflection from a door-wall. I still couldn't see Oscar but now understood the room size and dimensions. Fortunately I had more wine to drink and hadn't thrown the fruit out yet. During the intro of the Peter Gabriel track it became even more clear to me this is a huge improvement. For those unsure, listen to the first 11 seconds of B2 first then A2. That is the exact definition of tune-dem. End of story.

Tune-Dem rules.

Are those fireflies outside? Oscar must live nearer to the Equator than me.

After hearing an Entity compared to Urika and now this, I definitely need a Slipsik.

Wow, it seems my humble clips are assuming a life of their own.

I think beck is right that I should just be a little bit patient, though Ron the Mon appear to suggest patience is overrated. Along with fruit and wine.

I will add a plan drawing of the apartment (located in Copenhagen, Denmark.. though I'm Swedish.. and the wife Norwegian.. and the kids decidedly Scandinavian; so the lights are winter decorations rather than fireflies) in the Me and My System section.

I guess that would also be the appropriate section to elaborate on my beverage preferences (to the extent that they are sonically significant) and maybe even personal appearance (which by no means is a secret and relatively simple to verify on social media).

For me better is on Stands.
Use TM, on both tracks, about first 15-20 sec.
In room maybe it sounds different ...

More boogie on track 1 (which definitely benefits from that). Richer guitar on track 2.

For completeness, I only played the first 30-40 seconds. Still hard to practice tune dem on songs you’ve heard a million times :)
