4100 gain settings

Post by Kalle05 »

Majik 4100 without active cards have a gain setting of 3 as default.
Do you have to change the gain settings to 0 when you install active cards ?

No, the position "3" still eqals zero gain for that channel. Setting it to 0 would actually reduce the gain to -3.

I'm guessing you have the old type, where "0" isn't indicated?
On those the position under the "n" equals 0 gain

On the newer ones 0 equals 0 gain, of course

Can I ask what is the default setting for a 4200?

I don't have any manuals in front of me but I believe it is highly likely that the settings on the x100 and x200 series are the same.

It's the same as the Majik 4100 in the pic above, it should point at the "0" mark.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I am a bit confused. I recently read in the 4200 manual (see photo) that the gain for non active use is 3 and not 0 as recommended by Tandaberry. Although I am only using two channels, I have set all channels on my 4200 to +3 as stated in the manual and all seems well. It means my normal listening volume is around 50 instead of 60-65 when set at zero.

The manual refers to the first version (see pic above), there the setting "3" (just below the n in gain) equals 0 gain.
On the newer version (second pic), 0 means zero gain.

OK thanks. I am enjoying the sound at +3 but I will try it back at zero later. I don’t suppose it makes much difference as long as both channels are the same.
