Linn Akurate 4200 using only 2 channels?

Post by Naimless »

Hi Guys. I have recently stopped bi-amping my Passive Akudoriks and now have them single wired. This means that my 4200 is only using 2 channels with 2 channel’s redundant. When I purchased the amp, my dealer set some internal jumpers to link 2 channels together so that 2 channels were left and 2 channels were right. As I am only using two channels (1 left and 1 right), should these jumper links be disconnected or is it fine to leave it as is? If there is some internal procedure that should be done, can someone give me instructions on what to do please.

I'm not sure if you can hear a difference between having the internal wires connected or not. As I understand it, these wires are fitted as factory standard.
He will have connected 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4, but it would be good to know which channels come first, most likely 1 and 3. Those are the inputs, where you should connect your preamp.

Thanks for that Tandaberry. At the moment I am connected to channels 1 and 4 (the two furthest apart channels). I will move 4 to 3 at the weekend.

If you want, you can remove the cover of the A4200 to check if the cable is going from "channel 3 out" to "channel 4 in" or the other way around.
