I am really upset about Linns behavior and this is what I said. I am afraid they are on the wrong way .....

I just freshed all components of my System - so at the Moment I am not searching for a Change because I am happy with it as it is now ;-)

I have no LINN dealer closer than 200km away so whenever I decided to buy a Linn product (2 times in my life) it was not because a dealer was really "selling" it to me. Nor did I got any help from the dealer when I had to set up the product.

I bought because I got my information out of the Linn Forum. People which I would now call friends helped me setting up and making the best possible integration of the Linn product into my system. All for me relevant information came from Forum members which didnt had to sell me something so thats the best advertisement a company could have - customers who sell for them.

I am not asking for Linn R&D people to manage a forum but marketing people if they understand their job in the right way should - so the no capacity statement holds no water.

Than I got a lot of advice out of the "Optimise your DS" discussion from here so maybe its a good thing to stay here.
In case Paul Surround shows up or Bri and maybe some others show up once in a while I am fine.

I respectfully think Paul surround would be more at home on the wam, most of his wacky threads would've been deleted here! Lol
When I heard the linn forum was going offline he's the first person who I thought of who'd feel like he's lost a big chunk of his life. He'd put a lot into space and travelled to see fellow linnies. It'll certainly leave a big SPACE in his daily routine.

The decision by Linn to drop the Forum should result in the firing of both their Sales Manager and their entire Marketing department. Can you imagine how many businesses would KILL to have access to hundreds of dedicated, raving fans of their products? If they used the Forums as a tool to reach out to their clients and engage them in product development they would be speaking DIRECTLY to their consumers!

It appears as though Linn has decided to bucket the trend of more active client engagement and go back to the 70's with their marketing.

On a personal note, I want to thank all of you for your help and patience with my Linn journey but I fear that my journey will continue with a company who puts value on the idea of "community".

Peace.

I suggest everyone peed off the forum closure contacts Linn directly with their comments, made in a constructive manner. If enough people contact them, they make take notice. At least everyone will feel they’ve made their feelings known and Linn will find out how impassioned some of their (possibly ex) customers are. You can do no more.

No forum for much of this period.
Do you believe sales will now drop?
How many customers are happy with the forum decision?
How many are disappointed?
Based on a few forums I visit it’s 0 vs 50+

Sure it’s going to affect sales!

Now here's a turnup for the book. Along with no doubt many others on their mailing list, I've just had an email from Simon Chisholm at Linn announcing that, following the demise of the main Linn forum, a Development forum will shortly be opened for the use of beta testers. I shall certainly be joining that forum. But it does make you wonder ...

I’ve just had the same email, DavidHB. Seems like a sensible move to me. I get the impression that access will be by invitation only, so Linn Development Team will have full control.

Very Good Point .. is there - beside the email for LINN Support - any other email we can use ??

I got also the Beta Mail and made a reply with some comments about the Linn behaviour. But i think that a reply to a mass mail will not get the right focus

Yes. I'd expect pretty tight moderation as well. It's not much of a consolation, but at least we get to feed back on some stuff.

I see the Wam now has a Linn owners club and several Linn threads appearing. I wonders if it’s time to stop Linn specific threads on here unless Frederik is OK with them continuing. He has been very generous in providing us with a temporary home and I thank him.

I was on this forum and will stay on it as it’s very enlightening.

Thank you Frederik for the temporary Linn home.

At least my LP12 sounds as good today as it did yesterday.
Same here, not sure exactly where Linn is heading and it may not be good. But like you, my LP12 is still the high point of my audio system. All other components are there just to support the LP12. May the Linn Sondek continue to live long and prosper!

I think the email was sent to anyone who had participated in any beta program past or present.
I think they may have realised that they would miss that input.

Time will tell whether abolishing the forum will cost them sales.

I’ve been using beta firmware since they started making it available. Maybe they’ve yet to go through the entire list.

Perhaps all the Beta testers would be kind enough to repost the development forum threads on the Wam!

And how does one get on the Beat tester list now? I have Konfig beta turned on but no email. Perhaps when you select device beta, the linn cloud machine will automatically generate one?
One has to wonder at their thinking...
