Re: Best / worst vinyl pressings
Not at the same level of the previous album, but also their second album deserves a listen:

Re: Best / worst vinyl pressings
I just replaced my James Carr US-reissues from 2001 with these Japanese Originals from 1977 (the US originals from 1967 and 1968 are still too expensive for me). This is the biggest upgrade for lp's that I have ever made. The 2001 reissues are like a blurred fax in comparison to the Japanese pressings.

Dreamer and Crime of the Century are great as well. Really not a bad song on the album. I am also rather fond of Even in the Quietest Moments.

Which LP version would you buy?ThomasOK wrote: I am also rather fond of Even in the Quietest Moments.

I had it only on CD.
On vinyl I have also Breakfast in America, but I do not rate it high.
Thanks

I have never compared different pressings so I can't give you any advice on this one.Matteo wrote:Which LP version would you buy?ThomasOK wrote: I am also rather fond of Even in the Quietest Moments.

Re: Best / worst vinyl pressings
I’ve got an original U.K. pressing which is one of the best sounding records I have. Never looked into alternative pressings. It looks like the label at top of this webpage:

My question for Thomas was referred to Even in the Quietest Moments (not to Breakfast in America).

For RHCP fan (US 2016 version):

4 discs, analog recording, mastered by Steve Hoffmann.
Simply astonishing pressing, for less than 30€.

Re: Best / worst vinyl pressings
I missed this on vinyl first time around - I think I delayed cos I dislike flipping sides after only 3 songs. I seem to recall there were two versions, this Steve Hoffman/Acoustech one and a digital vinyl version. I will have another look and see if I can get a decent 2nd hand copy.

One of the albums I grew up listening to:

I've got the UK pressing. Lovely 70s recordings too.

Ordered Stadium Arcadium after some research. The original release is averaging about $150-200 on discogs, so the reissue (with same mastering) does indeed look like a real bargain. Apparently it's miles better than anything available on digital - i.e. far less compressed. The reissue is 150g whereas the original was 180g. Thanks for highlighting and looking forward to playing it :)

Re: Best / worst vinyl pressings
That’s interesting about BiA, I always felt Supertramp albums sounded great. I would always recommend original pressings. I bought this when it came out and it sounds great:Matteo wrote:Which LP version would you buy?ThomasOK wrote: I am also rather fond of Even in the Quietest Moments.
