Azazello's system
Moderator: Staff
Did some adjustment on the speaker placement two days ago (haven't had enough orka to do it before). The improvement was nothing short of stunning, as soon as the Nexus got more than 20 cm from the wall the records just started to sing! Now it's so damn good that I really don't think so much about new upgrades (except for Akurate DS, that I think about quite often  ).

Considering the timing, that series of photos just GOT to be fake!
... but I am afraid they're not. My speakers went in the floor once, too. Cabinet cracked, floor got a nice hole. Tweeters of all kinds have been pushed in sooo many times. Most by children, some by friends and others by girlfriends. Best story I've got is this one:
A friend was visiting with her 1-year old son and I played some music for them. I had to leave the room, so I said: These speakers must not be touched, ok? She agreed.
I went out and came back just a minute later. What is the baby boy doing? He is pushing a metal dome tweeter flat with his thumbs!! I lift him away and turn to his mother: Didn't I tell you that the speakers mustn't be touched?
She shrugs and calmy replies: Well, he didn't understand that!

Mmmm
I have been taking notes.
In all seriousness, it's actually very useful to hear your experiences. I would also expect an adult to be respectful, but I think some parents get so used to things being damaged or puked on that they forget the value of some items.
PS Yes, I also suspect Mr Azazello of a wind up!

I'd love to get my hands on an AudioTech stand like that. Considering how good the turntable stand is I have to wonder if it wouldn't outperform my Quadraspire shelves. It is just the right number of shelvers and would look quite nice with the KK on top and the rest stacked under it, although admittedly not as pretty as the Quadraspire Midi rack.
But I have to wonder, especially with that nice wood floor - where are the skeets? Now if you could just get a black anodized platter and top plate this could be Darth Vader's system. :)

I find it difficult to compare stands since the change always involve disconnecting the cables and moving them around, something that also affects the sound. This time was even more confusing since I got a new stylus the same day and only listened for an hour or so before I changed the stand. Having said that, I do feel that the Audiotech is quite a bit better than the Corras. I can't comment on the performance compared to Quadraspire though. If you can live with the look, you should give the Audiotech one more chanse!
I only got eight of them... :| Is it worth it to put Skeets on the stand as well?ThomasOK wrote:But I have to wonder, especially with that nice wood floor - where are the skeets?
That might be a good Idea for the next jubilee edition (mine is a 25 years annaversiry LP12). Give me! :DThomasOK wrote:Now if you could just get a black anodized platter and top plate this could be Darth Vader's system. :)
