Hi Fredrik - will the Tundra mono have XLR inputs or stay with just RCA like the original Tundra'?

Hi! Tundra Mono will have RCA inputs only, as the input circuitry is unbalanced.

The only point in using XLR on an unbalanced input (as Linn did back in the day with their LK1 and LK2 amplifiers) would be if one is convinced that XLR is a superior type of connector. I don't know if it is, as I've never made any proper comparison of the two. It would be interesting but time consuming, as one would first need to define the best sounding male and female part of each type, then compare the two pairs against each other in a typical application.

Fredrik,

will your next project be the matching preamp for the Tundras?

Yes, a super Kikkin would be very nice indeed.

matthias and Charlie1: I am already working on it.

I don't know, however, if or when it will be ready. Passion and hard work sure helps moving the design forward with a steady aim into the unknown. But ultimately some inspiration and luck appears to be needed, too. I'll let you all know when it starts getting exciting.

Fredrik,

with all my heart I wish you abundant inspiration and luck to design a better preamp than KK. I am definitely convinced that you are able to do it.

Good decision as I always prefer unbalanced silvers between pre and power amps when I compare this using different Linn pre/power amps (and Linn pre -->Tundra)

REALLY nice to hear the progress on the Monos, Good Luck with the manufacturing, we both know the challenges related...

Good to hear the latest on the Monos and I agree with Music Lover on the unbalanced vs. balanced. Considering how wonderful two Tundras sound when used one channel each I expect the Monos are going to be something really special!

I'll definitely be sending positive energy your way and hope your intuition ;-) is fully functioning on the preamp.

Fredrik have you had the time to listening to the Tundra Mono prototype yet?

Hi Mike!

I assume you mean the final prototypes. Yes, I've listened to them a lot. But I still haven't brought the pair home, to my living room, in the final version. The reason is a bad cold that kept me from work for ten days. :(

I have to catch up with some orders now, but hope to enjoy some music with the Mono's and a pair of 212's later this week.

Thank you Marco!

I'm sorry, but the "T word" is not allowed in the lab.
Soon there will be a Christmas break when it's ok to indulge in it. Temporarily.

Nice newsletter. Really looking forward to hearing the Tundra mono at some point. I think it could be perfect for my 242s...

Received the newsletter! Great!

Maybe get a marketing partner to work with you. So you marketing and product development can go in parallel? Lejonklou, Is there a picture of mono you can share?

How about dimensions? is it smaller than Thundra? And any update on estimated target shipping date ? (does not have to be solid)

Oh, also does it have auto-sensing 120/240V power? or like Thundra require manual switch?

Thank you for the newsletter Fredrik. As well as enjoying my Tundra, it is incredibly interesting to hear about the processes involved in developing the product.

Very much looking forward to the mono, suspect I will be powerless to resist!
