Hello
My nephew is fascinated by music and hifi, he would love to spend his hard earned £150 on his first record player.
I have been trying to get him a rega planar 1 or similar.
Posting here as a wanted ad, but also for advice, if anyone has tips on which TT would suit him best I would love to hear them.
He doesn't want an auto deck and already has an amp with a phone stage.
Thanks
Record player for an 8 year old audiophile

Definitely the Rega Planar 1 with an AT95 cartridge (not sure which particular version, charlie1 has some great experience with the carts, I’m sure he’ll be along in a bit to advise).
BTW, don’t bother with any of the “similar” turntables - they’re all pants! Rega really are the undisputed budget Kings.
Rega also make a “HiFi System in a Box” for £1000. I know this is outside your budget, but it may be something you could work towards - I think the components are available separately. I’ve heard it and it’s ridiculously good for the money - very, very musical compared to anything else anywhere near the money.
