Two UK TONGYAN power cords

Post by cortina »

I bought two used Linn LK units that each came with a fused UK TONGYAN power cord.
As I live in Sweden, these will not be used.
Any interest in them?

Their length is more like just over 1,8m (cord length between the plugs). (Were power cords also 1,2m?)

Volex power cords (Volex plug and connector) with Tongyuan cable exist in many varieties. The best ones sound fantastic, the ones with wrong specification are nothing special.

The best UK version is 1.8-2 m long, cable is 3×0.75 mm2 and the text should run from plug/power strip towards the unit it powers. The fuse inside the plug can be exchanged and flipped to best direction.

The best European version is 2.5 m long, cable is 3×1.00 mm2 and the text should run from plug/power strip towards the unit it powers.

Wrong length or copper diameter: Skip it
Wrong direction of cable: OK, but not the best (the effect of direction is surprisingly big)

(I hope it's OK that I post this in your sales ad, cortina!)

Hej Fredrik!
Posting here is perfectly fine. Just what I was wondering. Thanks!
Will check the text on the cables tonight.
(Is there a thread about which EU Linn cable was supplied with which model and which of the EU ones sound best and which are nothing special? I saw a long duscussion but not so straight forward. I have a bunch of cables that I do not really know where they belong. Most Linn supplied but some are likely not..)

Unfortunately I gave up trying to update the power cord threads when I discovered that there is variation within each "model" (a precise specification) that is sometimes bigger than the differences between "models". There are good and bad "models", good and bad years, good and bad batches and individual variation.

Therefore, one must listen to each cord to make sure they perform as they "should".

An update on the cables: The text runs from plug to the unit it powers and the text also reads 3G0.75mm2.
