Security Warning Ref Photos

Post by Charlie1 »

Make sure you edit your photos before uploading in order to remove the precise GPS coordinates of where they were taken, assuming they was taken on a smartphone.

In Windows 10, when you edit the file properties, click the 'details' tab and you'll find a 'Remove Properties and Personal Information' link at the bottom.

Alternatively, you can look at disabling geo tagging from your camera app but this will be phone, and possibly s/w version, specific.

Photobucket is much better than dropbox in that you can set it to automatically remove this info for you. You can also prevent people downloading the images without having to upgrade your account.

Thanks for the heads up charlie1. I’ve just downloaded Metapho for iOS which allows exif data editing just prior to sharing, which means that you don’t lose the location data on your originals.
