That is very good news indeed, and certainly a significant change also. Thanks for the update Thomas.

Thanks for the kind comments Davey. I really like the Khan, it was a quality sound improvement. At this point, I may never replace my Isobarik speakers. Especially since the Sondek LP12 keeps finding new ways to be improved. Also, the new Lejonklou mono preamplifier, and his newer mono power amplifiers are very interesting.

It's been awhile since I made any changes or upgrades to my system. But next month or so, I'll be replacing my Akiva cartridge, with the Kandid cartridge. Plus, it will be a good time to replace my Sound Organization turntable stand, with the NOKTable stand. Although having both of these items replaced at the same time will be a significant improvement, it will be tough to hear the specific improvements of each individual item.

And while I'm at Overture Audio, I should be able to hear some of the Lejonklou equipment as well. Should be an interesting trip...

No problem Charlie. I'll be sure to report on my upgrades, and my listening experiences with the Lejonklou equipment. Although my guess is that everything will sound great!

Cheers

So no expectation bias there then ...?

Based on my previous experience with Linn cartridges, the newer models have sounded better than the models they replaced. So in that respect, I have no reason to think the Kandid will be worse than the Akiva. And if it does sound worse, I'll keep the Akiva.

Based on what I have been told by people that own Lejonklou stereo equipment (and people I trust), plus the articles I have read, I have no reason to think they will sound bad...that's for sure. Needless to say, I will have to listen myself before making my opinion.

But in any case, it will be fun getting a chance to finally hear some of the Lejonklou equipment, and for me having fun is important too.

Cheers

Hi Tony I replaced my Akiva three weeks ago. The Akiva was still sounding great but the Kandid is something else entirely. Dont wait, go for it at double speed. You'll love it!

Thanks Flat, an order has been placed for a new Kandid cartridge. And needless to say, I am looking forward to hearing the difference.

Cheers

Hi Tony, forget the difference Buddy. Its in an entirely different league all together. On tunedem, its so far ahead its silly. But then the beautiful way it reveals the shapes of the instruments and voices is just magical. The extra detail is massive and is applied musicaly so it is just so enjoyable. It adds nothing and allows every recording to be played exactly like the producer intended.

And it does wonders for poor old recordings.

Also its the best cartridge i have ever heard playing quiet at night. Scrub that, its the best cartridge i have ever heard! Full stop!

It plays through my Naim/Isobariks so beautifully and joyfully as if David Williamson uses them at home and designed the cartridge lto play through them as a symbiotic relationship.
.
In fact it sounds better through the Briks any any other speaker I have heard. The combo is so so, so musical.

Youre in for a real treat.

Enjoy.

Finally made a trip to Overture Audio last Friday, and the weather was far better than I could have expected for November. Plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures made the trip much easier to navigate, and more enjoyable.

Before starting on my turntable, Thomas assembled the NOKtable stand. This is an excellent turntable stand, with a simple and straight forward design. Compared to the Sound Organization stand, it's taller, less wide and less deep. And needless to say, a much better performer over the Sound Organization, as well as the Quadraspier stand which was used as a direct comparison.

As for the Kandid, it really is a better cartridge than the Akiva cartridge. Of course the Kanid is priced accordingly...so perhaps no surprise with the improved sound. Although it's only been a couple of days since being installed and with only a few hours of play time, the Kandid has clearly raised the bar in terms of sound performance. This is the type of product that keeps me wanting to play vinyl, and maintains both my interest and appreciation with the SondekLP12.

There probably isn't any positive statement about the Kandid that hasn't already been said. But in my system, both the Kandid and NOKtable are true enhancements and well worth the price. Job well done to Thomas O'Keefe, and once again...to Linn.

Almost forgot, I was able to hear the Lejonklou stereo preamplifier and stereo power amplifier using my completed SondekLP12, and an Overture Audio SondekLP12. I was happy to finally hear some of his products, and will certainly hear more in the future. But needless to say, these components sound very good and I can understand why so many people are excited about his products. Congratulations to Lejonklou for all of his hard work and skills. Job well done indeed!

It's been a few months since the installation of a Kandid cartridge on my LP12, and replacing my Sound Organization turntable stand for the new Noktable turntable stand. And although the cartridge isn't completely burned in yet (primarily due to not having much listening time), I am very pleased with how this deck sounds!!!

And not only does my LP12 sound better now than it has at any other time, these two upgrades have improved the sound of my entire system. Needless to say, my appreciation for the LP12 continues to increase with each Linn upgrade, and the expert installation services from ThomasOK at Overture Audio.

Sincerely,
Happy Camper!!!

Recently, all twenty one of the electrolytic capacitors were replaced in my power amplifier. The four large black Jamicon 15000 uF capacitors were replaced by the blue Vishay capacitors.

The original switch (upper right corner of picture) was replaced with a new switch as well.

All the replacement capacitors are from different manufacturers, including the Nichicon Fine Gold accoustic series.

Although the sound has really improved overall with the new capacitors, it's the bass frequencies and vocals that seem to have benefited as well. Plus, there is more musical detail being revealed also. And needless to say, the outside of my power amplifier still looks the same, which is good.
