Re: Tony Tune-age System
Last week I received two Lejonklou power cords (LPC's), one for the Klimax Radikal and one for the Klimax Kontrol. And as such, I was able to compare them with three power cords from other companies. One power cord is made by PS Audio and cost $500.00. The other two are from Synergistic Research and cost $700.00 and $1,100.00 respectively.
So the short story is, I'm keeping the two LPC's and have already ordered a third one for the Linn tuner. It's really difficult to understand why some of these other power cords can be so expensive, and so difficult to install.
Cheers

That's good news - the improvement in Thomas' system was quite profound.
Do they not even make the sound clearer in some way - i.e. to keep the audiophiles happy?Tony Tune-age wrote: ↑2020-03-04 20:53 It's really difficult to understand why some of these other power cords can be so expensive, and so difficult to install.

Actually, the three non-Lejonklou power cords (LPC's) do sound good. And there are sonic attributes with all three of the non-LPC's. But the bottom line is, the LPC's are more composed and more musical with my Klimax Kontrol and Klimax Radikal. In addition, I have ordered another LPC for my Linn tuner and expect a similar performance there also. So for the cost and performance difference, the non-LPC's certainly aren't woth the money...that they cost. And for $500.00, I could purchase approximately twelve LPC's. And for $700.00, I could purchase approximately seventeen LPC's. And finally, for $1,100, I could purchase approximately twentyseven LPC's.
If possible and when time permits, we'll compare the LPC's with power cords that cost $2,000.00 and more. Such as the Nordost Valhalla power cord and other overly priced power cords.
Cheers

Re: Tony Tune-age System
My new Entity now has a sufficient number of hours to really hear what it can do for my system. However, the three new Lejonklou power cords (LPC's) have contributed a great deal of improvement as well. And they seem to be in total harmony with the Entity, Klimax Radikal and Klimax Kontrol.
Overall, there is way more power, punch and grace to the music. The sound is excellent, and I'm impressed with the level of performance from the Entity and LPC's. At this point, I'm really looking forward to the new Karousel bearing system for sure!
Also, my Entity will have it's first upgrade. Although it's not a major improvement, and won't be referred to as revision one. Apparently an additional insulating spacer will be installed, which Thomas said will only provide a small (but noticeable) improvement. So, there is a lot for me to look forward to in the next few weeks!

Re: Tony Tune-age System
If all goes according to plan, I should have the Entity upgraded and a new Karousel installed by this time tomorrow. And if possible, I'll have some pictures to share as well.
Until later, cheers!

Interesting to read about the insulating spacer - Tony would be really great to get the pictures;)
Vlado what are you waiting for ... the Karousel or the Entity or both (but you seem to not have a LP12 so its maybe the Entity.
I have only 40hours of play time on it and I can already see what its going to deliver - its an outstanding impressive product which gets you addicted to it ... and you know how it is with addictions ... you want more ;)

Re: Tony Tune-age System
As it turns out, not everything went according to my plans today. However the two bright spots were getting my Entity upgraded, and having the new Karousel bearing system installed. The entity needed an insulator installed between to metal parts, which reduced the noise level. The insulator is clear plastic and wraps around the power supply, with another piece of metal wrapped around the insulator. Only a few of the earlier units needed this addition.
And as for the new Karousel bearing system, all I can say is wow! Of course It will take me a few weeks to fully evaluate, but this is a major design & engineering improvement. Totally worthy...

Good morning V.A.MKD,
Thank you for the comments, I'll be sure to post the most recent pictures of my entire system as time permits. I might have to take some additional pictures too. And as you say, I certainly do feel fortunate...big time!
Cheers

I was surprised also when Thomas informed me of the upgrade. But it was a fairly easy task, and didn't take much time to complete.V.A.MKD wrote: ↑2020-05-04 06:30Just a second ... Re: Tony Tune-age System
You're welcome Defender,
It's been an interesting experience, and I'm always glade to report my findings when possible. And you do make a good point about being as close to the best, as possible. Of course the turntable is "King" in my system, and that does make it a little easier to configure the components down stream. I try to keep the system as simple as possible, along with proper calibration and proper setup. I'm digging it...
Cheers

Re: Magnum Dynalab Antenna and Ekos/1
Since my turntable is officially completed (for now anyway), it's time to install the MD ST-2 antenna. I just got to scrape up the energy...and realize the tuner will never sound close to the Sondek.Tony Tune-age wrote: ↑2019-09-24 22:52 I would like to thank everybody on this forum that provided a comment or an opinion, regarding FM antennas (especially the Magnum Dynalab antennas). I'm almost in the same position ...
I have to buy antenna, so MD ST-2 improve the sound quality (and signal strength) of you tuner or ... ?
P.S. Here generally I listen 2 radio stations, one with classical music and one with jazz music. Both are "analog" (they don't have money for switch to digital ... ) and sound quality is OK = much better than Pop / Rock / Folk commercial stations that have switch to digital.

After getting my new LP12 with Karousel, I have also noticed, that the gap to streaming has grown quite a bit.Tony Tune-age wrote: ↑2020-05-26 19:32 Since my turntable is officially completed (for now anyway), it's time to install the MD ST-2 antenna. Based on my research efforts and reading the opinions of forum members, the MD ST-2 has a greater signal strength, and a lower noise floor than many other antennas. And it can be easily mounted indoors on a wall, or on the back of an audio rack, or simply placed in a window too. I did not want to mount an antenna on my roof, so that limited my choices. Plus, it's reasonably priced in my opinion.
Needless to say, if it does have a stronger FM signal and a lower noise level, the MD ST-2 could improve the sound significantly. I'll report back after it's been installed.
Cheers

Re: Tony Tune-age System
Here's a few current pictures of my system, although not much has changed visually. The Entity did replace my Urika, which can be seen in the pictures. But the Ekos SE/1 tonearm doesn't look much different than the original Ekos SE, and of course the Karousel bearing system isn't visable. And as of now, the Magnum Dynalab antenna isn't installed on my Linn Pekin tuner. The power amplifier was recently recapped, but doesn't look any different. And the speakers are Linn DMS Isobarik with Espek tweeters and two passive crossovers per cabinet.

Re: Tony Tune-age System
Very nice, must be sounding incredible! This may seem like a strange suggestion coming from someone, who also has the LP12 in a corner (no room elsewhere): have you thought about switching the position the two racks, so that the LP12 moves out of the corner? Might be an improvement.

Thank you for your answer. I will be glad to hear your opinion about "antenna" ... I will have to buy 2, one for living room and one for office, use for background music ... so it's important "issue" for me.
P.S. Very very good pictures of your paradise ...

Re: Tony Tune-age System
I am happy you asked this question as I also feel that having the LP12 in a corner has an advantage but also a disadvantage
advantage:
really good coupling to the house - less influence if the floor is not stable enough (wood planks)
disadvantage:
probably sound waves in the corner slightly disturbing LP operation
question is which of the two has more effect

Yes, good question ... for me especially, because I have never think on "wood planks" or wooden floor ...Defender wrote: ↑2020-05-29 11:14 I am happy you asked this question as I also feel that having the LP12 in a corner has an advantage but also a disadvantage
