I like it overall, but don't have a copy on vinyl. It would be fun to hear it on my LP12.

This sort of thread is often the best one on hifi forums.

Currently have the following to sample in my playlist from Tidal:

Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Richard Thompson - 13 Rivers
Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert (by coincidence my wife is going to Koln this week!)
The Knife - Deep Cuts

Currently enjoying the new Jean Michel Jarre album, 'equinoxe infinity'.

There's been lots of good new vinyl this year:
Nik Baertsch's Ronin - Awase
Tord Gustavsen - The Other Side
Gretchen Peters - Dancing with the Beast
Allman Brothers - Live at Atlanta
Richard Thompson - 13 Rivers

but the best album of 2018 for me has been: Vanished Gardens - Charles Lloyd and the Marvels + Lucinda Williams

I like Lucinda Williams so will get this.

There seems to be a Decca (1 disk) and Blue Note (2 disks) version, unless I'm mistaken. What version have you got?

Blue Note double album - wasn't aware of anything else?

I've decided to go for the Decca cos I hate flipping LPs every 2-3 tracks. You're probably wondering why I bothered asking now, but thank you. Yours is pressed by RTI so likely sounds better of the two.

For me the artist of 2018 became

Neko Case

her album Hell-On is wonderful although I can’t decipher her lyrics but accepts them as poetry. And we actually got to see her show in Stockholm which was also great. She has recorded for many years but I became aware of her as Iggy Pop played a song in his BBC 6 show.

If you like Neko's latest, also check out "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You" from 2013 and "Blacklisted" from 2002. Then again, anything by her is worth checking out ;-)
You might also wanna look into Amanda Shires' latest "To The Sunset"

Thank you I will try them.

I am right now enjoying Fox confessor brings the flood and also like The new pornographers that she sings with.

Hi all.
I've just been recommended to listen to the group 'public service broadcasting'. I'm really glad I have as the music is fantastic, with samples of spoken word from what I presume were public announcements/fictional speak, layered with guitars and kraftwerk and Jarre -esque keyboards. Just Spotify them, the live album recorded at Brixton in London is particularly excellent.

Jan Garbarek, In Praise of Dreams (2004, just released on vinyl)
Nat Birchall Quartet, The Storyteller

Very cool. I hadn't heard that Rhiannon Giddens had a new album out - I'll have to check it out. I haven't heard Jan Garbarek music since the early 80s. I stopped collecting ECM records when they went to digital recording, but up until that point I owned about 80% of the catalog and did quite like Jan.
