I found the Saras were a bit better further apart.

What do folks think of these two - same distance apart?

Have you tried soldering the cables with a 90 degree angel at the connector? I Did this with my K20 and Kans.

SO, maybe but are you sure about the better further apart? Thought yesterday's first clip sounded better...

You're right tokenbrit. I've brought them back in a bit. You've got good ears to pick up on that.

EDIT:
Kan II stands slightly further out now so that speakers are more central. In both sets of clips, there is something much more exciting to me about the Kan stands so they are keepers.

I much prefer the Kan stands. The SO stands seem very unmusical to me: I’d even go as far as saying that they do a great job of turning music into noise 🙉 🙊

Likely a few outside of this forum who think we have a screw loose for comparing clips, but these have been quite revealing of setup issues and improvements ;) Much better now :)

Yes, I probably should have left in my admission that I'd left the screws on one Kan stand untightened. And you were bang on ref speaker positions. I listened back to the clips and could hear it, so a lesson in not rushing when comparing clips by myself.

Your system has now officially been beck approved for partying! :-)

......and yes, use the Kan II stands. I find them better with timing though very slightly more rough sounding.

I would try them just a wee bit closer yet........ looking at and listening to your first Fleetwood Mac clip I think it was very good...

They are probably 2cm wider than yesterday. Is that what you want back? 🤔 😁

John Strong. One of my favourite Linn albums along with Carol Kidd’s early stuff.

I think it's pretty much there. The timing was fixed by bring them in 4cm in total but it was still a bit boring but pulling the speakers forward a bit seems to have fixed most of that. I think it's much closer now anyway.

Before: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b319toxemlmfg ... 7.mp4?dl=0

Now: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5rrinofzznl4 ... 1.mp4?dl=0

It's still sounding a bit soft and less punchy but could be mains, volume setting, amps warmed up more, or I dunno what.

One thing you probably all know but when playing loud I put my foot on the stand. They were vibrating like crazy so must chuck a lot of energy into them.

EDIT: this is a lot more fun so even if the new recording is a bit soft, in the room, it's really good. Thanks for spurring me on beck! There's a real skill in setting up systems. I think I would be pretty crap at it if I worked for a dealer, even though I can tell when it's really good, I would be forever kidding myself that I'm there. Plus I don't have enough patience.
