Didn't the journey begin with Klimax amplification? ;) More than a sense of power with the TMs here - now that the 212 bass is under control, and the 'thermostat' reduced, maybe try repositioning the speakers slightly? (& don't forget the trim :)
Welcome to the 21st century :D

LOL! -- Welcome 'back' you mean ;)

I only had Klimax Kontrol, never a power amp

You have quite efficient speakers don't forget.

I trimmed earlier :)

Yes, I must revisit positioning.

Also getting some K400 and Silver ICs to try. Basically, bringing the Linn stuff forward to about 2002.
Good choice! "Gypsy" got my head bopping along right away. Oh, and do try the (half) K400 and silvers.

Cool!

I've already cut the K400 in half - not the neatest of jobs :(

Just an update to say that I'm really happy with the Mono 2.2s. They're lovely. I was not 100% happy in the beginning but that turned out to be a setup issue in preparation for the Monos arriving. I'd inadvertently moved the 4-way extension block onto the much less musical dedicated spur socket. It was only last week when the 6-way block came that I realised. Since then it's been plain sailing.

All music is very involving but I find the main beneficiary is digitally recorded music. It's much more enjoyable than the vintage systems which tended to channel me down the analogue recorded route. It was a noticeable trend compared to my last 'modern' setup several years ago. I was aware of this and it's been a relief to play more modern music again without reservation or feeling it's a bit of a struggle. Credit here also to the Giella Pi and 212s.

The Monos also drive the 212s well. Bass is well under control and in time. I think a more powerful amp could better generate large swells of music/volume when required but I really don't have any issues now the 6-way block is in place and connected to the more musical mains feed.

I owned a couple of Tundra Stereo amps at different times in the past and never really settled with them, although the 2.5 was almost there for me. For whatever reason I don't experience the same problem with the Monos. I really don't know why. The rest of the system is very different now so perhaps that is part of the answer. I find the more I experience Hi-Fi, the less I understand and can predict what will or will not work, so I just have to leave it there.

Thanks to David Neel for his support.

Brilliant news charlie1! This isn’t a path I imagined you would take when you had more or less settled on the vintage Naim amps and Kans, but it’s great to hear that your system is inching towards something which plays music the way you like to hear it. For most of us, it’s still work in progress!

Thanks Spannko. Yes, the Kans were (eventually) a dead end which was a shame in many ways, and then it all unravelled. Still got vintage Linn/Naim in the office though and that's satisfying in it's own way. I'm pleased with how things have worked out.

Finished setting up the 212 system with 2002-spec LP12. I ended up going back to Linn blacks which I felt offered better interplay/sync between musicians, at the expense of some ability to follow individual melodies.

Pretty happy for a glass-half-empty kinda guy accepting that I have to compromise to suit my needs.

So I've sold the Nait, 32.5, 110, Katans, and Oak LP12. The 42.5 and CB 160 went a while back. Various other bits to go but hopefully clear the decks (and make some space).

Thanks tpetsch! It certainly rocks. Shame a lot of bass disappears out the rear stud partition and the lightweight floor but I still enjoy it a lot.

The monos is certainly treating your 212:s well, I never experienced that kind of control when I owned my 212:s.
Sounds good!

Yes, they do a much better job than the LK140.

I'm sure your Klangadang's are more music but for £1,200 they are great value.

I think your setups sound great both using Silvers and Blacks. Your bedroom system has come a long way and is very musical and enjoyable. Now relax and enjoy. :-)

Thanks beck.

True, and I still have those early clips and can easily hear why I struggled with that system.

Sounding good. I do quite like those clips with the silvers but they are different music to the blacks so I can't really tell much. Some nice setups.

New Adikt stylus has probably run in now and the Lingo has been put back to first in line on the mains block.

Also moved the speaker terminals from the treble to the mid which seems to fix a slight laggy bass which annoying / distracting - was starting to think about trying M109s but think this will be ok now.

All in all, the timing/sync between musicians is improved enough to put the Silvers are back in which is nice in terms of balance and tunefulness.

Anyone else prefer mid to treble to help bass timing on a Linn speaker?

Yes, on Espeks in our previous apartment. To my surprise I found it simply better on Mid than on Treble.

All other times I’ve compared the inputs on single wired passive loudspeakers (including the unmusical diagonal connection recommended by Linn), treble has always been the best.

Will listen to the clips later!

I am very familiar with the first two clips but not with the last one. On listening to the Bonnie Raitt it was musical but just seemed somewhat slow. It didn't seem quite as slow on the Sting track but still was a bit plodding and I got the same effect on the third track even though I don't know it.

Mmm, interesting.

I've had that impression a bit with the '92-spec deck (+Adikt) but thought it seemed about right once it was bought up to 2002-spec, but maybe I just got used to it. Any thoughts on what might be causing it, or where to look?
