In fact I already have an LP12 motor controller proto called 'Uddevalla' sitting on a shelf. It was made several years ago and has an ingenious circuit, never before used in a turntable, which makes the motor run considerably more quiet than it does with a Lingo. I think it has great potential.

The original idea was not mine, but came from an inventor that I know. We took the project about half way after which he got busy making machines that clean hoses for the fire squad (!). As it requires quite a bit of signal analysis and calculations that needs to be developed into a program for an ATMEL microcontroller, I felt at the time that it was too much to continue on my own.

I might wake the project up if I find a partner that is good at programming ATMEL chips and is really interested in the idea. I know that it will require A LOT of fine tuning (all good HiFi products do), both in hardware, the control program and how they interact.

Atmel AVR :D :D :D I've been programming these babies for 10 years !!! Right from the famous 90S1200.
Working on electronics for 15 years, mainly motor controllers, but for blinds....

Forgot to mention my design is also based on a AVR - of course!
Technically i think the Axis power supply design is better than Valhalla.
Another thing, if i connect a 1-1 trafo (E-core winded with earth) my LP12 sounds better.

Edit: Before the Valhalla that is.

I am new to the Atmel IC's and am currently trying to learn them. It feels a bit silly to reinvent the wheel when I know there are people out there (like you!) that could probably make the programs I need ten times faster.

Have you measured this or just by doing a listening comparison?

I have measured the inaccuracies of the Lingo+AC motor combination and have proven that it's possible to make it run considerably more quiet, without loss of torque.

But I have not listened to it, as the prototype is not finished or programmed. There are a lot of things left to do before it can drive an LP12... And my experience tells me there are probably 100 parameters-that-were-not-supposed-to-be-important to adjust before it sounds really good. :?

That part of audio that is both fun and drives you mad! :lol:

As you can see I need the last finish. All the A/V crap (PS3/HDD) is hidden below the Panny.
I still work on my "in wall" rack, and small children force me to have my LP12 in a safe place :?
Behind the wall is my office where all cables runs.

I can understand it doesn't work with the LP12 on the same wall...

But do the subs sound good when playing some other source? In wall installations are tricky!!

The sub's where only for surround/movie use and when i rebuild my house i thought "why not try to build sub's into the wall when i had the chancel".
I ditched the surround stuff since i could not get it to work.
They where never intended for serious two channel music listening.
If it actually had worked it would have been like hitting the numbers :D

FYI it is a pair of Peerless SLS12 drivers in a 62 litres vented kabinet.
Maybe it is the same driver found i a Sizmik :D

All music Flac'ed (CD's) played throug a Squeezebox into my Nummerik.
A Trambolin added.
New 038/2.
A slipsik 4.3 is added :D

It is a modified LACK table. It has been shortened so it is not so deep. It fit's the LP12 nice. I consider this as a temporary table bit I have not found anything yet but I'm looking for something like Andante-Largo but a bit cheaper. The badge is from a old dustcover :)

Frederik is a hero !!!

I have told you about my bad experience with my previous Adikt. It seemed to be in very bad condition - and have always been.
Today i recieved a new Adikt stylus from Frederik and spent a couple of hours mounting it. And yes - those "tags" have to come off. It had to go further back about the same distance as the diameter of the "tags".
I'm pretty sure the alignment is within tolerances :D

I't was very exiting when it hit the grooves for the first time. I took the "worst" record and it sounded amazing. The thing i had with the Adikt is gone - completely!!
I now it need some hours to settel but OOTB it's just great.

My Goldring 2500 died during christmas by an ID TEN T accident :oops:

I should also mention that my Akito has been replaced by a mint Ittok. and I must say that a late Ittok is much better than an early Akito :D

So now my vinyl source is like this:

LP12 > Cirkus > Tramp1 > Lingo1 > Ittok > Adikt > Slipsik4.3

As for my digital part I had a wiered experience this weekend. Some time ago I got myself a Squeezebox and flac'd all my CD's. I used my Numerik DAC and i was quite pleased with the performance. I was better than my Karik. This weekend I started my Karik up again because I want'ed to listen to a CD I couldn't rip. Took another one just for fun to compare with the Squeezebox and guess what - the Karik was better than the SB. I don't know what has happend - maybe it's me. When i got my SB people agreed that it was better than the Karik and I've been telling that to a lot of people. They proberbly thought I was insane and maybe I was.
