Mine are not toed in and only around 160 mm from the back wall to the back side of the speakers at the moment.

I find track B to be more tuneful than track A so I would use that position!

You might try toeing them in a touch so that the inner sides are perpendicular to the back wall and see if you like it.

I tested 0mm (no toe-in), 12mm, 16mm, 18mm, 24mm (full) and ended up with 18mm (difference in distance to rear wall for inner vs outer corner of the base)

After refining toe-in I zero'd the toe-in and revisited depth again and ended up increasing the depth significantly (378mm to 453mm), then restored the toe-in.

My back wall is plasterboard + timber with a cavity and too close produces a lot of boom on the bass. In the right spot the boom drops off really notably.

At a concert yesterday evening with Georg Riedel on bas (he played with Jan Johansson on “Jazz på svenska” and ”Jazz på ryska”) and Jan Lundgren on piano. Just lovely. Reminds me that I have to get “Jazz på svenska” on cd. :-)
Georg Riedel is nearly 90! He is known for his music working together with Astrid Lindgren.

He has played together with Stan Getz among others.

When you have a setup like I do where all small changes matters it is easy to get lost in all the different ways the music can be delivered. :-)

I found myself listening a lot to this setup though it might not be the best.

Ah, didn't realise they were the same setup - they look further apart in the second clip. I'm only commenting on the phone position then! Not whether it's better or worse than your previous setup.

I am done with my CD player setup. My last advice to anyone into hifi is to go with what captures their musical imagination. No hifi is perfect. When you stumble upon a system that makes you fall in love with music keep it “close”. The smallest change can make you loose that love again.
