New Turntable. Developed by my friend Stephan on the base of Idler wheel driven with Lenco motor and Lenco platter, all the other mechanical analog parts and plinth made and assembled by himself, apart from integrated Soundeck damping feet, cartridge damper, platter and puck.
Called the Silent Air Slim. Warming up sessies now on, with same Nagaoka MP 300/500 cartridge and insurpassed Slipsik 7.2 to pass the sound all through to SN2 and speakers.

Looks like a massive piece, Arjen!

What does the cartridge damper do, musically speaking?

Frankly I can’t say Fredrik myself. Haven’t done A/B listening. This is a new built machine with only a few vintage parts from the former one in it. I cannot even compare it with my Lenco mod, for that one is gone. But I just asked my friend Stefan, the designer and manufacturer of my TT. He says with the Soundeck cartridge damper the music is more relaxed, the sound softer to his ears. Better separation, better to distinguish voices and instruments to follow without losing integration, cohesion, the bass more tight.
He doesn't want to play without it anymore. I will ask others too, hope to get more reviews.

I have never used a phono damper, but I have heard about phono dampers. Here's a link which provides some information about what they are and what they do....

Thank you Tony. It was just because of Soundeck, a specialist in damping accessoires, that I came across their cartridge damper. Ventuseaudio is only talking about sound improving. A fair question by Fredrik what does this mean in musical terms. Maybe others at this forum can share them experiences.

I got a review by user with modest like turntable like Rega Planar 3, RB 250arm, Ortofoon 2m. He’s talking about more clarity, more depth in the detail, more round sound, more focus in the midrange, more punch in the bass and a wider soundstage all over. Another one with a Kiseki Blue MC on a Jelco SA-750 arm talks about a subtle improvement, better hearing the complexity of the music and a little more tightness in the bass. This guy suggest the DC-1 might be a bigger step in a a more modest setup than his one. My experience is takes all the Soundeck damping accessoires integrated in my new hand built idlerwheel turntable like the mini DF, footers, the Plattermat, the Puck and this DC-1 cartridge damper. And I must say this one plays after quite a few hours of playing very musically. More then a improvement /subtlestep forwards from my modificated Lenco L76.

Some new pictures of my new idler wheel turntable, a BJA SilentAir customized in height because if the limited space. Basic version, the SilentAir Slim is bit higher. A bigger version is the SilentAir Grand, with also a 12inch arm, all developed, constructed and excellent hand built by my friend Stephan, but for me no space to place.
