Please stick to the subject. Tune-dem is always regarded as the common reference in this forum, that's not specific for this or any other thread.

Thanks.

Any feedback on the latest one - 4.9.7?
Hi Music Lover

I only have 4.1.10 and 4.9.7, so have only compared those side by side.
I prefer 4.9.7 on my system and on my Linn dealer's (as does he). Music is just so much easier to follow.
My system - Sneaky, Lyngdorf DPA1 Dac/Pre, ATC SCM100ASL.
Dealer system - Klimax DS, KK, A2200, 242 (all latest spec)

I'm trying 4.10.2 now. Been using 4.1.10 for a while as I've been finding Davaar 9 a bit harsh. First impressions are that 10 is sounding absolutely fantastic.

Yes, 4.10.2 is the best. It made me sit down and listen more intensively to the music.

4.1.10 still the best in my system. 4.10.2 sounds uninvolving and require more effort to get me into the music. 4.1.10 just flows effortlessly.

Yes agree with your impression.
4.1.10 is easy to follow and much less fatiguing.
4.10.2 catch you immediately with a "dinamic" and punch sound but musicians relationship is simply lost.

I have been following this thread with interest but without having a chance to listen to the differences since I sold my MDS. (The store frowns on changing the software around all the time.)

I noticed that Linn have 4.11.1 beta up on the site now. I expect part of the reason is support for the new Sekrit DSM but the new version is available for all machines.

I was also thinking it would be a good idea if people stated which DS unit they are using in their evaluations of the firmware. After all, since we are talking code here there is no reason why the most musical firmware on a KDS/1 would necessarily be the most musical firmware on a ADS/O - at least that is my thinking. It might also explain some (but I'm sure not all) of the different preferences.

I think the goalposts may have moved!
Does everyone reboot, then manually power cycle the DS after a software change? I never normally do it, but after an upgrade failed (4.11.1) my device wasn't showing in Konfig.

Have you compared the same software version power cycled versus not power cycled?

I'm guessing there was a musical difference then, otherwise you wouldn't go to the trouble each time?

4.11.2 is sounding good so far. Went through some trouble getting it installed. I never tried anything between 4.10.2 and this.

Will let you know after I give it some time.

I'm not enjoying 4.11.2 as much as 4.10.2. It has great clarity but is just not so enjoyable to listen to to my ears, less musical and rather 'digital'.

Hi,

Quite new to this, just went back from the latest automatic update on he Renew DS to 4.9.7 as it is simply a completely different experience in terms of resolution an bass extension.

Any recommendations on the current favorite or RDS (KDS/0) ? I'm asking as I get the feeling there's quite a bit of experience involved here.
