Linn Axis Speed

Post by springwood64 »

Thanks to the helpful tips on John's thread here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6182

I cleaned my motor pulley, tho it was only very lightly soiled.

I then checked the speed using a phone app.
It was averaging 32.40 rpm, so adjusted the two screws on the underside and eventually settled on this result:

I started by turning both screws to their extremities to check the resulting speeds.

At max anticlockwise the speed seemed highest, so I started with the screw closest to the centre and turned it incrementally clockwise until I got close to 33.3, then gradually adjusted the other until I got as close as I could to 33.33 on average.

Is this the right technique, does anyone know?

Are my results typical for an Axis? There seems to be a lot of speed variation. I noticed that the results were very sensitive to the location of the phone, so I tried to ensure it was central.

Interesting my understanding was one pot was for 33, the other for 45. I saw markings on the circuit that indicated which was which.

Ah I wondered about that. Any idea which was which? The one that seemed to adjust the 33 1/3 speed sensitively was the one further from the centre of the turntable.

Facing the front of the turntable, the one on the left was 33, the one on the right 45.

Thanks. That makes sense then, as I fine tuned the 33.

Although it did appear that the 45 affected the speed at 33.

Interesting, maybe I’ll have more of a play with the Axis and see if I can get the speed more precise.
