Solder vs crimped

Post by Mikeg »

I am looking to change my arm lead plugs (T-Kable) from phono to BNC as the pre is a Naim 72.

Which is a better solution crimped plugs or soldered? If soldered which type of solder?

Is there a preferred brand of BNC plug?

Thanks

Having thought about it, it is probably best not to tamper with the T-Kable. Fitting a BNC plug to a standard coax cable is relatrively easy but the T-Kable is not a coax cable. Plus I could never replicate the quality of the soldering.

Looks like I am left with two choices:

1. Leave well alone and srick with the phono/BNC adapter

2. Replace the BNC sockets in the NAC72 with phono sockets. If that is going to be best for SQ what make sockets are recommended?

Thanks for your help

I think the better option is to get the BNC's changed on the 72, a relatively simple job.
