Linn Klimax Kontrol/2 - Question regarding the balanced input

Hi everyone,

I bought a KK/2 and read some older tests from audiophile papers.
I understand that the KK/2 works fully balanced and that all single ended inputs are converted to a balanced signal in the inside.
The author of one test stated that the balanced signal of the KK/2 is converted to single ended and is then converted to a balanced signal again.

Does someone have the circuit diagram and can say whether it's true or not?

Thank you very much and best regards

Thorben

I don't have the circuit diagram but I am pretty positive that the KK is a single ended circuit which just uses op-amps to flip the signal and accept balanced input and output connections.

Good evening Thomas,

thank you very much for your reply.
Linn promoted a balanced volume control in the KK with the dual mono board, which reduces the noise even further. So I thought it is a balanced pre amp. Is it possible that the first version used opamps for signal flip?

Greetings

Thorben

What you call a balanced volume control was using one volume control precision resistor ladder chip for each channel instead of a chip that operates on both channels. I believe it is the same chip but just used for one channel instead of both.
It did not make the preamp an actual balanced circuit, which requires separate 0 and 180 degree signal paths, so twice the components.
