A customer of one of the guys here dropped a couple hundred records for us to sell for him. A lot of audiophile stuff I had no interest in but I picked up a Beethoven Piano Concertos set played by Artur Rubinstein with the records in VG to NM condition. Cost me a whopping 5 bucks.

Sam Lee released a new album, Old Wow this week.

Excellent reviews in the UK press and a superb concert last night in Manchester.

Album purchased at the gig and streaming on Tidal.

Produced by Bernard Butler, who collaborated with Ben Watt on Hendra.

Ben has just released Storm Damage so a good week all round.

Recently picked-up the "Grateful Dead Community War Memorial" 1977 concert box set. It has six albums, and is suppose to be their most musical album. And that's primarily because 1977 is considered to be their most musical period. However, their Cornell University concert box set is very musical too, and that was in 1977 as well.

Cheers

These came today :-) The San Quentin is a replacement for a Dutch pressing and I already have Laura's Smile of course, but strangely my copy has an English cover.

And the new Cohen as a US/Canadian pressing, very nicely made, recommended.

Not every audiophile record is bad, just most of them! Just ask Fredrik about the Classic Records Clarity vinyl 45RPM "St. James Infirmary" by Satchmo I got him. My copy will also be making its way to the show along with a Holly Cole "Temptation" Classic Records pressing - because it is good music.

Maffe the first link is broken as part of your description became part of the link. I did a bit of work finding the correct link only to be a bit disappointed by the album artwork. :-)

Here is a record I picked up last year that caused Simon and I a lot of consternation this weekend:

https://www.discogs.com/Rebelution-Peac ... se/5341842

It is "Peace of Mind" by the group Rebelution which is a new reggae group. This is a dub version of their album which I will also bring to the show. Lots of low bass that Quads are not supposed to be able to do. So Simon liked it a lot and ordered a copy only to get a different album with the same name. I looked it up to find out this group has an interesting gimmick. You can buy the normal album, an acoustic version or a dub version - basically no vocals and more bass! They have a thirteen record box set that only has four titles in it!

But it got even weirder when he brought his copy over to my house to find out what was different. His standard version had an insert with lyrics for each song but the first track had no lyrics! The second track had lyrics but was acoustic and the third again had no lyrics. First track on side two had lyrics but was electric. I went to their website to compare with their track samples and we came to an interesting conclusion. On his record, which is supposed to be the normal one with vocals and electronics, track 1 is the dub version, track 2 is the acoustic version, track 3 is the dub version and track 4 is the normal version! That is as far as we got with it, but I'm still trying to figure out how they could have accidentally mixed tracks from different versions on the same LP? It also turns out that the dub version is out of print (a shame as it is my favorite - I'm not that fond of the vocals) but I managed to find a sealed copy on eBay - only 1 - which Simon quickly snatched up for $20. I've seen records with the wrong labels or even two sides from different albums, but different tracks on the same side! Got me!

Absolutely ThomasOK, for me "Witchi - Tai - To" and "Pepe Linque" is reason to buy Oregon "Beyond Words"

@ThomasOK: Fixed the link. Little amount if irony in the cover art comment:)

Nice selection, Tendaberry! I have the Kleiber/Beethoven 5th and the Chet Baker and they are both fine records.
