Installing Aktive cards into 5125

Post by Kiwilinn2 »

Greetings,
I have 3 x LK140s with aktive cards. Unfortunately one has died irretrievably
I have bought a 5125 and wish to install two of the cards into it. Probably the two bass cards and leave an LK140 to drive the treble, although I may experiment with alternative combinations.

will I need extra adaptors cable length etc if I do this?

Looking forward to better tunes from my Ninkas.
Cheers :-)

The pillars should be inside your 5125. If not, PM me.
One card needs a short lead, the other a long lead, which is too long really. Never tried it but I suspect the short lead may actually reach. If I was at home I'd give it a try. I could do that at the weekend.

Some info here on installing cards:

BTW you might find bi-active with the 5125 sounds better than tri-active with mixed amps. Perhaps give both a try.

Thanks so much, your blogs are very informative and entertaining.
Just waiting impatiently for the 5125 to be transported 18,770.768km to NZ!
I'll report back. Off to find something to use as an antistatic strap.
Interesting, Linn said that two bass cards cant be fitted to a 5125, not enough room?

The short cable is not long enough to reach the furthest plug, even from the lower slot. I only have a spare short cable :(

Not sure about the card height issue mentioned. I just compared treble and bass Ninka cards and they seem to be identical in height. I will post some pics later.

Short cable too short

Active cards are the same height (from 2 angles)

It seems to be quite common that the cards come with two shorter cables but as you know you also need a longer one for the AV5125.

The part number is CONN226/1/AVP and last time I inquired the price was around £9.00 plus postage.

I may have a spare "long cable" if you are interested?
