I have the option to introduce a (used) Klimax Tunebox into my system. When
testing the Tunebox, I recognized a noise in the K-array when no music is
playing. This is not just white noise, but has a sizzling component. The
noise can be heard easily 0.5 m in front of the speakers. As my
expectation of such a sophisticated item is that there should be no
audible noise at all, the question is, whether this TuneBox is faulty.
Any experience how loud noise normally is from the TuneBoxes? And
what quality is has?
I excluded the pre amp as the cause by switching it on and off. The
power amps are less easy to test, but I did so by disconnecting their
NF input: noise gone. The noise is in all three upper channels: ST, T, M.
Can a faulty PSU be a probable cause?
Thanks for hints,
BR, Klaus
Noise in Klimax Tunebox

An active system is always prone to be a touch more noicy than a passive, but in this case it seems there is something not completely right. The noice should have no apparent character which leads me to think that there is some kond of interference causing the noice. As you say, there could well be something with the PSU. I would start by checking all connections, internal and cables.
In the meantime I checked against a more recent (dynamik)
'Universal Mini PSU' for a Tune Box (unfortunately this seems to be
different from the 'Universal Mini PSU' in the Radikal). The noise is
reduced and the sizzling noise component is not dominant with this. In
contrast to before, the noise has a distinct sound in each of
the ST,T and M.
