Just reading a thread on Topica where a dealer has recommended earthing the cases of Unidisk 1.1 and Kinos (I presume any Linn pre-amp) together with a short wire between case screws to improve sound.
Anyone come across this before or have any comments?

Unidisk earthing?

If the components in your hifi systems are all connected with a good power cord to a distribution block with earth (regardless of whether that block is connected to a wall outlet with earth OR one without earth), then adding another earth connection between cases will make the sound worse.
This is due to the earth loop that is created. Earth loops sound bad, both inside machines and in the entire system.
If the earth connection through the power cord is somehow missing OR if the connection is bad, the sound can sometimes be improved by a connection between the cases. This is because the quality of earth connections affect the sound, just like other electrical connections.
But the proper way is that each component is earthed through the power cord.
