Klout Audio Sensing Switch - any alternative?

Post by Moomintroll »

I've been missing the auto switch on feature of my Klouts ever since I replaced my Kairn with an Exotik and don't have any other LK series boxes which could do the same thing. I know that Linn used to make an audio sensing unit which would work with newer pre-amps and switch the Klouts on, but Linn no longer make these and I've yet to see one on Ebay.

Anyone have any alternative solutions that switch a Klout on when the pre-amp is used?

I have not looked into how the Klout remote switching works, but I am guessing it should be a simple task to make something that works with the Exotik.

Would it be ok if the Exotik standby function triggered the Klout? That could possibly be even simpler to implement than an audio signal sensor.

If the Klout is in standby modus, it switches on if it detects 12V dc on its "Remote Out" phono jack (and switches off if this voltage is missing).

Thanks, Axel!

My guess was that it was 5V.

Thanks for the hint!

One question: The PDF states "The signal sensor unit is powered by the Knekt style mains adapter". What exactly is a "Knekt style mains adapter" and if I would buy this unit, does this mean I have to buy a new "Knekt style mains adapter" additionally for usage in my country?

Does anybody here know?
