New firmware for DS: Bute
Moderator: Staff
Hi there, new member and Dutch Linn Akurate owner here. I use the Akurate with a ripserver NAS on my Lavardin IT amp and Jean Marie Reynaud Offrande Signatures speakers.
I installed the akurate update yesterday. it seemed simple enough. Started up the 'old' linn config application. Flashed the new file to the Akurate DS. No problems there, installation progress went to 100% (so far so good) but after the reboot I got: reflashing status: error
Tried to flash again but same result. I then installed the new linn config application. I then saw the akurate with the updated software and it looks like it is working just fine. Did anyone else get the flashing status: error message?
I reckon it is just the case that the old linn config app doesn't recognise the new software but I may be wrong. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Kind regards,
Lennart

I think so.Ducky wrote:I reckon it is just the case that the old linn config app doesn't recognise the new software but I may be wrong.
The correct upgrade procedure is to first update Linn config and upload the DS software using that.
How is your Akurate DS sounding after the upgrade, any changes?

Funny that the installation instructions quite specifically state (at least that is how I read it) that you should first do the reflash and then install the new linnconfig...
It looks like it did the job though. like I said, when I opened the new linnconfig I saw the Akurate with the new software installed, so I didn't bother to do a reflash with the new linn config.
What does it sound like after the update? The words 'crisp' and 'clean' come to mind. I will be listening for a couple of hours today so I will let you know the final verdict....so far I like it though.....

I actually read your warning and still messed up
Apparantly no harm done though, the 'old' linnconfig flashed the akurate ok with the new sw.
The akurate is playing as we speak and Eva Cassidy, Madeleine Peyroux and Neil Young have never sounded better! The Akurate outperforms my old Esoteric DV50 which is by no means bad at cd playback
Good on ya Linn :D

How would I tell the difference? Twice it happened at the end of a song. Was it the DS that stopped or the controller?
I didn't use any other controls or remotes at the time.
The next song was not playing on the N810 (time was not running).
Perhaps a glitch in the wireless network or something?

Please observe the Akurate display.Ducky wrote:How would I tell the difference? Was it the DS that stopped or the controller?
If it act as Klimax, you can see if a playlist is ended normally (=stopped due to last tune played) or interrupted (before the last tune was played)

I will watch it like a hawk.....may do a little listening while I am at it.... :DPlease observe the Akurate display.
The N810 sends a playlist to the Akurate one by one, so if the player stops one might assume the n810 is to blame (it didn't trigger the next song), but since I updated the akurate and not the n810 I am a little suspicious...

The proper order to install 'Bute' is:
0. Uninstall all previous versions of LinnConfig and LinnGui.
1. Install 'Bute' version of LinnConfig
2. Unpack 'Bute' Softpack
3. Run new LinnConfig and flash DS (takes a few minutes to do, in my case about 5-7 mins...).
4. Install 'Bute' version of LinnGUI
5. Run LinnGUI and enjoy!!!
I currently have one song (Alan Parson's The Turn of a Friendly Card) which gets interrupted if I play it as a whole album. If I play it separately it plays OK thru the end.
Weird...

A new SW was released a week or so ago.

Some consider that not as good as the ones released in May. Anyone that tried?

Strange, on the Linn WEB, I cant see the 0.6?Nicolav wrote:You also agree how the 1.1.-0.5 sounds "bad" compared to 0.6? :?:vicdiaz wrote:I installed it two nights ago and I agree!Nicolav wrote:Now the latest version of software (1.1-0.6) sounds fantastic! :D

I just upgraded from 1.2-0.4 to 1.2-0.5 (KDS) and its a bit more musical but sound less nice. More digital. Less clean. A bit rough...
Is 0.5 the latest SW to Klimax or is it a 0.6 released as with Akurate?
