I know that someone here (lejonklou?) had found out the optimal torque setting when tightening the drivers of Katans.
But I can't find that posting anymore! (Searched for "Katan torque", "Katan Nm", ... and even "Katan" + "lejonklou".) Can anyone help?

Wanted: torque setting for Katan drivers

Much too high. I'd say they should both be in the 1.1-1.2 Nm range.
If you have an adjustable tool, then the best thing is to start at 1Nm and work your way up while listening. It will get gradually better until you pass the optimal torque, where it will start sounding a bit out of tune. Then go back slightly and continue working up in smaller steps.
Just like with speaker positioning, the differences don't get smaller when the steps do. Usually the perceived differences stay just as big even when you make the smallest step that your tool can handle.

This agrees with my findings. I would certainly say that it would be unlikely to be under 1.1Nm or over 1.3Nm with a reasonably calibrated screwdriver. Also, although it varies from one design to another, it is not unusual for the tweeter to have a higher torque than the woofer. I found the Katan setting for both drivers to be fairly close.
