I recently realized that there are two different types of tonearm fixing
bolts: One consisting of a multi part ensemble with a ring and a spring
at the tonearm front (supplied with Ekos and also Ekos SE), the other
being a simple bolt with a rounded front (supplied with Keel). They look
as if they sound grossly different.
Has anybody tried?
Which tonearm bolt should be used?

On regular tonearm collars, the height setting screw is horisontal and therefore tightened perpendicular to the armtube. The spring I believe should be removed. That is something I evaluated over a decade ago, so I could be mistaken, but at the time I thought it was a clear improvement.
The Keel has a downward angle on its screw, therefore I think the screw tip needs to be rounded the way it is. Maybe it's a better sounding choice for tonearm collars as well?
