I am considering a project for 2025, and it might involve getting an LP12. I owned one until 2006, but it wasn’t the most stable performer. I recall trying several different pickups in the 90s, including Rega, Dynavector, and Goldring Eroica. However, none of them seemed as musical at the time as the Linn K9 or K18.
It seems like Skyanalog offers great value for the money, but my main question is: is it truly musical?
Thank you in advance for your response,
Martin

Re: Does a Skyanalog pick up works on the LP12?
I don't think, there are many here who have heard them. The owners on the German Analogforum seem to be quite fond of them, but then again, most don't use Tune-dem.
I remember there were some complaints about the quality of the entry-level P1-G. Something to consider is the relatively high weight between 10-11 g, depending on which tonearm you're thinking about. Linn recommends cartridges from 3-10 g for the Akito 2 and 3 as well as for the Arko. For the Ekos SE 3-9 g. But since the difference is so small, it might work anyway.
However, rather than taking a chance on the Skyanalog, I would go for the Adikt (even if it's old) or something in the Dynavector range, like the 10X5 MKII Low or the new XX-2A.

I've got a couple of low-to-medium wear Adikt's if you're interested. I keep buying a spare to check the current one is ok, which is usually better (but not massively) and then I just stick with the new one.
The Adikt is the only MM I've found that is as musically satisfying as the K9.
