LP12-50 Udate

Post by Mikeg »

It's been over 12 months since the LP12-50 was announced. Try as I may I have been unable to find a reliable review by someone who as actually done a proper comparison or has bought one.

Based on various comments made by ThomasOK he has actually had his hands on one. Normally we would then get a lovely detailed review.

I don't have the funds to buy one, new or used, but I would love to get an idea what this turntable is capable of

My dealer has done a few and compared to their stock Klimax LP12 he said it's a lot better, but I don't know of any owners that have posted anywhere. Maybe buyers are less likely to frequent forums.

Is it possible to get the LP12-50 plinth for Klimax LP12?

Not currently. Linn does plan to eventually make a version of the plinth for Klimax LP12s but it probably won't come out until sometime next year. They have been mentioning prices in the $10,000 to $15,000 so it is not going to be cheap.

Good price for Linn but far too expensive for what it is.

I thought Klimax Radikal 2 was pretty expencive when I bought it last year but USD 10-15.000 is just far out.

I don’t know what’s worse, Linn asking for ten grand or people actually paying that much for a bit of machined wood.

Speculation is fun.

I called Linn and there is no price for the new plinth. Source: Linn.

Of course there is no price for the plinth as it hasn't been announced yet and likely won't be until sometime in 2025. There are, however, the figures they have thrown around at dealers as to what they might expect.

Good afternoon Thomas, do you think the new Linn plinth will sound better than the Chris Harban Plinths?
