New Naim 200 (Classic) Series

Post by Charlie1 »

Not really something many here (including myself) will be hugely interested in but since it's been quiet...

If you like a big toroidal power supply then the new 250 certainly ticks that box...

Wonder when they stopped bending the wires at 90 degrees to make it look tidy.

Isn’t it Charlie that we at this forum enjoy hearing of new products of bespoken brands? Probably a new Supernait to come too?

Cool - I did say 'many' - i.e. implying some folks will be interested.

What do you think of them then Arjen?

A new Supernait already? The SN3 seems recent but Covid did seem to condense the past 3-4 years.

Well Charlie, since I long time back just saw Naim products in a Glasgow shop window I was interested in their performance. I started the 5 series, then upgraded to XS and after that Supernait 2. Naim didn’t disappoint me, actually I loved the performance from the start and after, in combination with vintage Lenco. I’m not a streaming one, but at my daughters home the Atom sounds okay too. So any Naim step forward is something Naimed to look forward to IMHO.

Cool. A mate also has the SN2 (with some old PMC speakers) - it's always enjoyable and just gets on with it

It seems to me that your SN2 mate does’n let himself to be fooled.

He's not too much into HiFi to be honest. He just uses a Sonos streamer and there's no point me talking to him about source first :D

But he seemed to know once he had what he needed on the amp and speaker front - this was 4-5 years ago. He started with Nait 5i and Keilidhs and thought it was ok but not really good enough, hence he tried the SN2/PMCs.

Certainly interesting devices that will find their target group.

But since Fredrik showed me how a NAC552 can be replaced by his preamps, Naim is no longer of interest to me. Without wanting to diminish their quality, after all, my first real power amplifier was a NAP250 with SN2000.
