In case you haven't invested enough in cables

Post by ThomasOK »

For those wanting to spend more on their cabling, Nordost have announced new Supreme Reference Odin Gold cables. They use gold plated copper conductors instead of silver plated ones and gold plated connectors. Here are the US prices:

Power 1.25M $34,999.99, 2.5M (preferred) $44,999.99
Tonearm cable 1.25M $21,999.99
Interconnect cable pair 1M $38,999.99, 2M $48,999.99
Speaker cable pair 2M $62,999.99, 4M (preferred) $94,999.99

Other lengths are available but these are representative. Better start saving up!

$94,999.99 sounds SO much more reasonable than $95,000

It would be interesting to hear clips comparing ~$100,000 speaker cables to ~$100 split K400, but I imagine the likelihood of that happening is slim.

I expect very slim as only a handful of Nordost dealers will be able to carry the Odin Gold. Even already being an Odin dealer doesn't automatically qualify you.

Quite the up-charge for gold "plating". ...I could never afford to buy them but I would really enjoy listening to a few A/B's..

Personally no interest* in clicking on a forum boasting the most expensive systems, from a forum for the most musical systems.

* not earning sufficient interest financially either :p

Agree,
the Nordosts are purely build for WBF folks so why start a thread about on a forum for the most musical systems.

If you’d like to invest in new fine cables and don't want to waste money and check Audio Sensibility from Toronto. He’s a lover with expertise and craftsmanship like Fredrik, very sensible to your audio needs and his products are very reasonable priced.

There's a local audio shop that caters to Nordost customers, and many of them buy the most expensive cables they can afford. So there are people that find them worth every penny, although I'm not one of those people.
