syncing Youtube with Linn streamer

Post by donuk »

Can one of you wise people please point me in the right direction?

I rather like viewing old pop videos on Youtube on my iPad, and having the audio play via my Linn ADS on the Net Aux input. Connected to and from my iPad via wifi of course. The rest by ethernet.

Some recordings are amazingly musical in this mode. See the reunion recording of 10cc I'm not in love.....!

BUT the syncing on everything is terrible. Miles out all the time it seems. Stopping and starting does not help. Can find nothing to adjust. Where to start? iPad? Linn? Router??

Any ideas????

Thanks Donuk beautiful downtown York

Thanks for this Flowmotion.
Unfortunately I cannot find a similar adjustment for an ADS/Kat.

Linn has a very poor Airplay implementation that does not support the auto sync protocol.

Done properly, the Airplay sender and receiver should negotiate when audio playback should start based on the video player. This is the only way to get a proper sync as the video/audio start is likely to change each time you play something.

Setting a fixed lip sync delay will work fine on the HDMI inputs of the Linn streamers as they delay is constant and usually caused by processing in the display device.

Not a very helpful answer, I know.

Thank you Jacob
It is what I suspected but nice to hear it from somebody who knows.

It is a shame that Linn have not addressed this because there is some beautiful stuff on YouTube.

What about using the HP output of the iPad directly into ADS?

Yes, the ADS doesn't have HDMI connections, only the ADSM or AEH.

I doubt that lipsync delay on the DS affects NETAUX. Probably only hdmi.
