Looks also quite nice even I would prefer the original one.
Smart looking system. What supports are you using? I wonder if your LP12 would perform better on its own without the gear on the lower shelf.

The black plinth looks very nice indeed Ben, and it looks great with your system and music room too!

Cheers!

Indeed! To my untrained eye Ben appears to have “everything”.

Many thanks for your kind words, I use TimeTables (http://www.timetable-hifi.de). The original one has a similar size like the famous IKEA Axamo but unfortunately it’s 15 times more expensive. On the picture you see a gear (digital source) under the LP12, sitting on a smaller TimeTable calls “Justin”. In my current setup there is nothing under the LP12.

:-) many, many thanks. Yes, it’s growing over the last 40 years and I’m very happy with it. When I find the time, I’ll post some pictures in “Me and am My System” thread, because here are only LP12 picture allowed ;-).

Thanks beck. Well the second picture is of course a little visual gimmick.

My favorites are Thomas and Tony's player. I think it's Movingui plinths. The fluted design is not my taste, I had a few of them in the early days, until I first discovered black and later rosewood.

Thank you Hermann, and I think the Rosewood plinth looks very classy...great picture!

Thanks Tony.

If I could get a Movingiu plinth at a reasonable price I would test it. I know that Thomas thinks it is the best sounding one. So far I have preferred the Rosewood to all the others, not only because of the visual impression. It just sounds better than all the other ones I've had.

It isn't easy comparing various plinths on the same turntable. But you do sound very happy with your Rosewood plinth, which is a good thing!

I once had a rosewood plinth on my first LP12. The lacquer was rather worn and there was hardly any visible grain in the wood. Around that time, the Swedish distributor of Linn claimed that black ash was the best sounding plinth and rosewood was the worst. I ended up selling it.

On one of my visits to North America, I saw the old rosewood plinth that Thomas had renovated. He had removed the lacquer, polished and oiled it. It looked absolutely stunning! Add the fact that according to Thomas' comparisons between plinths, rosewood sounds the best of the original Linn plinths. And now Hermann confirms those findings.

I've been keeping an eye open for an old rosewood plinth (well worn is no problem, but it needs to be straight), but I kind of doubt I'll find one. Especially after this thread. :)

Well, that's of course my opinion.

Interesting regarding the black plinth, of which I had two and could hear several. I can't quite understand the distributor's statement.

At that time I had the EKOS with Troika/Karma/Arkiv and a Naim Aro with different plinths. So it was very easy to make a musical statement between plinth, pickup and arm. Rosewood, Ekos and Karma (into Naim prefix) were my favorites.

At the moment I am sporadically building another LP12 with a rosewood plinth. It will surely be an Ittok arm and a Troika.
